If i was a...Cowboy 🤠

Basically any and everything will be going on the grill if im a cowboy 😂😁. Anything loose can be slapped on a big cast iron skillet just like the green beans, potatoes and onions. Always a winning combination for a side. The grilled pineapple 🍍 is also a great go to. It can be a side, the main, breakfast, a snack, or even dessert. When a pineapple is cooked and grilled the flavors change drastically, turning it into a chewy texture with an almost sweeter flavor. Burgers will always be a staple dinner, but elevate it with your own homemade buns because thats what a cowboy would do 😉. And lastly this cowboy needs some flavor so we'll add some jerk seasoning to those chicken thighs and grill it up!

... Read moreGrilling has always been a favorite way to bring out the best flavors in food, and imagining myself as a cowboy makes me want to embrace bold, rustic cooking techniques that celebrate simplicity and robust tastes. One of my go-to methods is using a big cast iron skillet on the grill to cook vegetables like green beans, potatoes, and onions. This approach locks in flavor and creates a perfect, hearty side dish that pairs well with any main. Grilled pineapple is another personal favorite that I never overlook. When pineapple is cooked on the grill, it transforms completely: the heat caramelizes its natural sugars, making it sweeter and giving it a chewy texture that is irresistible. I enjoy serving it not only as a side but also as breakfast or even a dessert option — it works well with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a scoop of ice cream for an indulgent treat. Burgers are a staple for any cowboy meal, but I like to elevate them by making my own homemade buns. It sounds like extra work, but the freshness and flavor elevation are worth it. Soft, slightly sweet buns can really bring the whole meal together, especially when combined with juicy patties and fresh toppings. For the protein, jerk-seasoned grilled chicken thighs add an exciting, spicy kick. Jerk seasoning combines heat with aromatic spices like allspice and thyme, which grill beautifully over an open flame. This seasoning not only enhances the chicken’s flavor but also complements the sweetness of the grilled pineapple and the savoriness of the veggies. Overall, embracing the cowboy grilling style comes down to versatility and flavor. Using simple ingredients, plenty of grill time, and some creative seasoning, it’s possible to create a memorable meal that’s satisfying and adventurous. Whether you’re cooking for family or friends, these ideas help capture the rugged charm and delicious possibilities of cowboy-inspired cooking.
