Homemade > Convenience: Apple Juice
Just 2 apples and some ice thats all you need for a personal sized Jar of apple juice. You can blend and strain if you have a blender or grab a juicer and it'll separate the pulp for you. The price of two apples from Albertsons comes to $1.80(onsale, if not they'll be like $1 each) and those apples will half-way fill up a 32 Oz jar like I have pictured. When you add the ice then it'll fill up the rest of the jar. I didn't notice a difference in taste either once the ice melted because cosmic crisp apples are already very sweet. Another note if youve been trying to cut down on your waste output then start with drinks like juices. Collect glass jars and refill those with your homemade juices. From this process the only waste ill have is apple pulp, and that can be eaten or composed. Eliminating as much plastic as I can which means less trips to the garbage can. Im not sure how long it'll last in the fridge once its made but I know it'll get drunk up before I figure it out 😂. I could go even longer on the possibilities of what homemade juices and meals could bring but I want to hear from you all! Do you prefer Convenience or Homemade? Tell me in the comments 👩🏾🍳.
Making your own apple juice at home is an incredibly rewarding experience, especially when using sweet and crisp varieties like Cosmic Crisp apples. Not only does homemade juice taste fresher and more natural than store-bought options, but it also allows you to control exactly what goes into your drink—no preservatives, added sugars, or artificial flavors. Using just two apples and ice cubes to fill a 32-ounce jar is a surprisingly efficient way to make a personal-sized juice serving. The ice helps dilute the juice without compromising the flavor, since Cosmic Crisp apples are naturally sweet. If you have a blender, blending and straining will remove pulp for a smooth consistency. Alternatively, a juicer can separate pulp quickly, giving you a clean juice that's easy to enjoy. One great advantage is the environmental impact. By collecting and reusing glass jars for juicing, you can significantly reduce plastic waste. The only byproduct, apple pulp, is either edible or perfect for composting, making this process very eco-friendly. This practice supports sustainable living by minimizing garbage and plastic trips. In addition to taste and waste benefits, homemade apple juice is perfect for experimenting with flavors. You can try adding cinnamon, ginger, or even mix with carrot or beet juice for healthful variants. Homemade juices also make thoughtful gifts and are ideal for kids’ lunches or a refreshing afternoon treat. While the shelf life is limited since no preservatives are added, usually the juice will be finished quickly due to its delicious flavor. Storing it in the fridge in sealed glass jars helps maintain freshness for a couple of days. Overall, making homemade apple juice is a simple yet delightful way to enjoy fresh fruit, practice sustainability, and appreciate the convenience of crafting your own beverages. Whether you prioritize convenience or the benefits of homemade, this method offers a compelling reason to try juicing at home.
