For me, being an ambivert means I thrive on social connection, but I also desperately need my recharge time alone. It’s like loving a lively KPOP concert one night, then needing a quiet day at home baking or reading with my dog the next.
One square on my bingo that really resonated was 'Loves to Travel.' I adore exploring new places and meeting new people, which definitely taps into my extroverted side. But when I travel, I also make sure to schedule in some solo time – maybe a quiet coffee shop visit, or just an hour to myself with a book. That balance is key! Similarly, 'Loves Boba' speaks to my social side, enjoying a chat with friends, but sometimes I’ll grab one and just enjoy it during my me-time.
Being an ambivert can sometimes feel like you're constantly walking a tightrope. You might be the life of the party for an hour, then suddenly feel completely drained and crave solitude. I've learned that it's okay to ebb and flow between these states. For instance, I might love dancing with friends, but I also cherish peaceful moments like watching Disney movies or getting lost in a good book. It's about recognizing your energy levels and honoring them.
If you're also an ambivert, you probably understand the struggle of explaining it to others. People often try to put you into one box: 'Are you an introvert or an extrovert?' My usual answer? 'Both, depending on the day!' Like a 'Teacher' needing to engage a classroom, but also needing quiet time to plan. Or an 'Aries' who can be bold and outgoing, but also introspective.
Here are a few things I've found helpful for navigating life as an ambivert, especially based on my bingo experiences:
Listen to Your Energy: Don't push yourself if you're feeling drained. It’s okay to say no to plans, even if they sound fun, if you know you need to recharge. Conversely, don't shy away from social opportunities if you're feeling energized – embrace that side!
Schedule Both: Make time for social activities and solo hobbies. If you're a 'Baking' enthusiast or 'Cooking' fan, schedule those quiet times. If you love 'Hockey' or 'Roller Skating' with friends, plan those too. Having a mix ensures you're satisfying both parts of your personality.
Communicate Your Needs: Let friends and family know that sometimes you need quiet time to yourself. They'll understand if you explain that it's how you recharge, not that you don't want to spend time with them.
Embrace Your Versatility: Ambiverts are often great communicators because they can understand both introverted and extroverted perspectives. This can be a huge strength in various situations, whether it's at 'College' or in a social setting.
I love that this bingo card helped me explore my own traits, from being a 'Gen Z' who loves new trends to someone who simply 'Loves Dogs'. It’s a fun way to reflect. What about you? Did any of my bingo squares like 'KPOP Lover' or 'Loves Disney' resonate? Or maybe you're more into 'Figment' or 'Tangled'? I'm so curious to hear your thoughts and experiences about being an ambivert!
