We know what our sweet baby is! 🤍
I haven’t fully decided if I want to share with the world who our baby is. So far just family and close friends know.
I think we’re going to wait until baby is born to share 🩵🩷
Finding out your baby's gender is one of the most thrilling moments during pregnancy! Like many of you, I was bursting with anticipation to know if we were having a little boy or a "Bay Girl!" It’s truly a personal journey, and while some choose to be surprised at birth, others, like us, can't wait to discover that special detail. If you're wondering how exactly parents find out their baby's gender, there are a few reliable and exciting ways to get that wonderful news. The most common and often first way many expectant parents learn their baby's gender is through the anatomy scan ultrasound, usually performed between 18 and 22 weeks of pregnancy. This is a routine check-up where a sonographer examines your baby's development, and if the baby is in a good position, they can often determine the gender quite accurately. I remember staring at the screen, trying to decipher every shadow, hoping for a clear shot! It’s incredible how much detail they can see. Sometimes, if the baby is uncooperative or shy, you might need a follow-up scan, but for most, this is the big reveal moment. For those who are eager to know a bit earlier, or for medical reasons, Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) has become a popular option. This is a simple blood test that can be done as early as 10 weeks into your pregnancy. It screens for certain chromosomal conditions and can also identify the baby's gender with very high accuracy by detecting fetal DNA in the mother's bloodstream. It's amazing what modern medicine can do, offering peace of mind and an early peek at your baby's identity! Many friends of mine have opted for NIPT for the early gender detection, and it's always fun to hear their reactions. Beyond these primary methods, there are also more invasive diagnostic tests like amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS). These are typically performed earlier in pregnancy than the anatomy scan, but they carry a small risk and are usually recommended only when there's a medical indication to check for genetic conditions. While they definitively reveal gender, they're not usually chosen solely for that purpose. And of course, who can forget the fun of old wives' tales! While these are purely for entertainment and have no scientific basis, they're a delightful part of the pregnancy journey for many. From craving sweet vs. salty, to how you're carrying the bump (high for a girl, low for a boy), or even the baby’s heart rate – there are countless myths people love to guess by. The Chinese Gender Predictor chart is another popular one that friends often try out for fun. We definitely tried to guess with some of these, just for laughs, before our official big news! Ultimately, whether you find out early or wait, the joy of knowing (or anticipating!) your baby's gender is a magical part of becoming a parent. It helps you connect with your little one even before they arrive, imagining their nursery, their tiny clothes, and all the moments to come. It’s your journey, and how you choose to discover and share this amazing secret is entirely up to you!
