My 4th Postpartum Journey 🤍

Postpartum. Yeah it can be hard but, you know what’s cool? Having beautiful people around you who love you🤍

Just a few moments I captured this past month of being postpartum. From my very first day to yesterday.

This postpartum journey has been a bit more rough than I expected. Struggling with postpartum depression, anxiety, panic attacks, etc. All of it is not fun to deal with but it’s real life. I’m so incredibly thankful to have the family, friends, midwifery team, and most of all my husband. I’m blessed to say the least. 🤍

The last picture is what I’m taking to help with some of these feelings. There’s only one way to go from here.🤍🪴

For many women, including those experiencing their fourth postpartum period, the emotional health aspects like postpartum depression (PPD), anxiety, and panic attacks can be particularly profound and require both professional care and self-care strategies. Postpartum depression affects approximately 1 in 7 women and can manifest through persistent sadness, loss of interest in activities, fatigue, and anxiety. Panic attacks add a layer of intense fear and physical symptoms like heart palpitations and dizziness, complicating recovery. It's crucial to recognize these feelings as valid and seek support rather than suffer silently. Support systems play a vital role in recovery. Having loving family, friends, and professional support like a midwifery team can provide emotional stability and practical help. Such support reduces feelings of isolation, which often exacerbate postpartum mental health struggles. Natural supplements are sometimes recommended to aid recovery, including herbal extracts such as St. John's Wort, which some studies suggest may help with mild to moderate depression. It is essential to consult healthcare providers before starting any supplement, especially during breastfeeding. Taking time for self-care, including gentle walks, connecting with friends, mindful practices, and sharing experiences with others facing similar challenges, can promote healing. Awareness and education about postpartum mental health reduce stigma, encourage early intervention, and improve outcomes for mothers. This journey highlights that while postpartum struggles can be tough, they are navigable with the right help, empathy, and resources, allowing mothers to embrace their new chapters with hope and resilience.
