I Did The Dang Thing
I answered the phone. The call came, disturbed as I was, I answered God. I’m trying to hear that “well done good and faithful servant.”
Who knew so many would be interested in my journey. Here I am just bumbling down the path of life. Just a girl finding her way and learning who she is. All while following my God, of course. I don’t know most answers, and all are welcome on this journey… so come on in!
I did the dang thing. I attended my first day in an assistant teacher capacity. Twenty-four children ran wild in an overstimulating class. I left the first day telling my husband, “I think God may have lost his mind…” I went back for more the second day. I showed up on day two as a lead teacher… a promotion over night! Ok God… let see what we can do. Twelve little faces stared at me as my journey began.. did I know what I was doing?! No!!! But they were sweet and wonderful. Well most🫣 That was 90 days ago, yall… and I lived to tell about it!! That is God. I promise you!
Lots of tears have been shed… tears of defeat, tears of joy, tears of exhaustion, tears of overstimulation… oh they flowed. Teaching is not for the faint of heart. Especially when you only had two days of training🤪 I found my big girl panties and I was determined to stay and answer that call!
I have left the teaching position… oh how I fought. So many factors played into the decision and finally my husband directed me that my time needed to be over in this chapter. Unfortunately, my family was paying a high toll for this endeavor. Ashamed… that’s how I felt… I walked away from this calling, from something I worked so hard at. Days went by of depression. Why can’t I get this right? I didn’t show up for you Lord…
Prayer after prayer of feeling sorry for myself🤪 until God said “shhhhhh….” So I waited in silence… calmed my anxiety best I could. Finally… clarity. I asked for peace in my home with my toddler son prior to this call. I prayed so hard for strength. “LORD did you see him hang-glide off the couch like a mad man?!?!? God I need strength to keep this baby boy alive today!!” and a lotttt of “Lord I just can’t do this…” So here comes God in the clarity moment… “look what you have done.”
Did you know after chasing TWELVE children around like a chicken with your head cut off, while wearing 80lbs of gear, will in FACT teach you that ONE little boy isn’t so bad… God! I just wanted you to charge me up like a Redbull and give me some wings! I didn’t want a trial! 🫣
I’ve asked a large amount of times, as well, to be a tool to my brothers and sisters, and anyone who needs any bit of knowledge I possess. It’s not much but if I can help… man I wanna help! I had so many amazing chances to love, pray over, relate to, praise, pastor to some amazing women… I’m thankful for every interaction.
So, where am I now. My heart aches for my kids… No one told me not to get attached! I’m trying to keep up with as many as I can, cause my heart just belongs to almost every baby I had. I’m peaceful resting at my home with my one toddler and two girls. My ear is open for the next crazy adventure!

Each day spent in the classroom fosters resilience, patience, and empathy, vital traits that not only benefit our teaching careers but enrich all aspects of life. Many feel the pull of teaching as a calling, and it’s the community's love and prayers that often carry us through the toughest times, reminding us that we are never alone on this path.
