... Read moreWow, my August birthday nails got so much love! Thank you all for the sweet comments. It got me thinking about how we can celebrate our birth month through nail art, especially for those of us with August birthdays. When I was planning my look, I knew I wanted something fun and tropical for summer, which is how I ended up with my pink and black coffin-shaped nails featuring those cool palm tree designs. But I also know a lot of you are curious about August birthstone nails, so I wanted to share some of my favorite ideas for incorporating those beautiful gems into your manicures!
August actually has three stunning birthstones: Peridot (a vibrant green), Spinel (which comes in a rainbow of colors, but often pink, red, or purple), and Sardonyx (a banded stone, usually brown and white). This gives us so much flexibility!
Peridot Power (Vibrant Green):
If you're drawn to Peridot's fresh green hue, you can rock it in so many ways. Imagine a deep emerald green base for a sophisticated look, or a lighter lime green for something more playful and summery. You could even do a subtle nod to Peridot with a single green accent nail amidst a tropical theme. For example, if you're doing a design with palm tree silhouettes like mine, why not have one nail with a peridot-green gradient background? It would add a unique pop!
Spinel Sparkle (Pink, Red, Purple & More):
Spinel is incredible because of its color variety. Since my nails already have that gorgeous pink going on, I feel like I inadvertently tapped into the Spinel vibe! If you love pink, you could go for a soft blush pink, a bold fuchsia, or even a deep ruby red for a more dramatic Spinel-inspired manicure. A pink-to-white gradient, similar to what you see on my coffin-shaped nails, would look stunning with a Spinel-pink base. You could even add some delicate black palm tree designs over a vibrant pink Spinel shade for a truly personalized touch.
Sardonyx Stripes (Earthy & Unique):
Sardonyx is a bit trickier but so chic. Its banded appearance makes it perfect for marble effects or subtle stripe designs. Think elegant swirls of creamy white and earthy brown, or even a deep black with white marbling for a sophisticated twist that still incorporates the colors in my current mani. You could dedicate one or two accent nails to a Sardonyx-inspired pattern, letting the rest of your nails feature a solid pink or black from your tropical theme. It's all about balance and personal expression!
Bringing It All Together for Your August Mani:
Don't feel like you have to stick to just one birthstone! You can mix and match. For instance, you could have a Peridot green accent nail, a Spinel pink main color, and maybe subtle Sardonyx marbling on another nail. The key is to have fun and make it your own. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or just love the month of August, embracing your birthstone in your nail art is a beautiful way to personalize your look. I've found that adding little details like glitter or tiny gems can really make these birthstone-inspired designs pop. So, go ahead and experiment – your August nails should be as unique and fabulous as you are!
