Travel Tips
Where do you want to travel in 2025??🌴
Tips
🤍 Spend some time playing with skyscanner / google flights. if you are able to have flexibility with your travel, you can find very good deals. Once you are familiar you can see the trends of pricing and can make assumptions on how they will fluctuate. Check nearby airports, it may be worth driving a bit further to larger airports if you save hundreds on the flight.
🤍 Take advantage of a long weekend! The trip is worth taking even if it isn’t as long as you may think is ideal. sometimes you need to make sacrifices to do the things you want. You can always go back in the future if you enjoyed your time, don’t miss out because you don’t deem the travel time worth a short trip. I found flights from Toronto Canada to Dublin Ireland for $300 (usd) nonstop round trip, it was only 4 day trip but i can’t get to most major cities in the US for less than that anyway and Ireland is on my visit list!
🤍 Weather may need to be another compromise in your travel plans. Traveling in off season means less crowds, cheaper accommodation, and better deals.
🤍 I typically use websites like Booking.com or Expedia for hotels or AIRBNB for homes, however it may pay off to check in on loyalty programs. For example- Hilton will occasionally do BOGO points and the price through that program is cheaper than what 3rd party websites are offering.
🤍 I spent 3 weeks abroad in the spring and another week in late summer, I was able to visit 6 countries through cruising and booking repositioning flights based off cost.
🤍 If you aren’t traveling alone, make sure you’re compatible with the person you’re with. It can be frustrating to have difficult traveling styles. I prefer to spend less on accommodations so I have extra money for activities, however i am not interested in staying in hostels. Make sure you discuss boundaries, expectations and budgets before booking anything with friends, SO’s or family. Are you the type of person that wants to get up for a red eye to save money or is your sleep more valuable? Would you like to eat in and spend money on tours or splurge on meals and do self guided activities?
🤍 use the internet!!! I always make friends before we travel by joining facebook groups and following bars/restaurants i can be familiar with before we arrive. Typically the people i meet feel better traveling with others as well and it’s nice to break the ice and familiarize yourself with each other before meeting in person. I‘ve been so lucky to create so many friendships this way and we continue to hangout and talk every day even though we live in different parts of the country.
