Love never fails✝️
It's a question many of us grapple with, especially after experiencing life's inevitable heartbreaks: does love truly fail? For a long time, this question echoed in my mind, making me wonder if the beautiful idea of 'Love Never Fails' was just a comforting myth. But through my journey with Bible journaling, I've found profound clarity and reassurance that has genuinely transformed my perspective. My journaling pages, especially in my trusty spiral notebook, became a canvas for exploring this very concept. I dove deep into scriptures, particularly 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which paints such a vivid picture of what love truly is: 'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.' When I meditate on these attributes, I realize that this kind of love – pure, selfless, and rooted in divine character – cannot fail. It's not about fleeting feelings or conditional affections, but a steadfast commitment. I also explored the rich meanings behind different types of love in the Bible. Take Agape, for instance. This isn't just human affection; it's unconditional, self-sacrificial, and divine love. When we talk about 'Love Never Fails,' we're often talking about Agape. It’s the love God has for us, and the love we are called to emulate. Our human efforts might fall short, our relationships might face immense challenges, but the source of Agape love remains unwavering. Understanding this brought so much peace, as it shifted the focus from my imperfect ability to love to God's perfect, unfailing love. Then there’s Hesed, a Hebrew word often translated as 'steadfast love,' 'loyalty,' or 'covenant faithfulness.' This concept beautifully reinforces the 'never fails' message. Hesed speaks to a love that endures through all circumstances, a commitment that doesn't waver even when things are difficult. It’s about being there, consistently, faithfully. When I reflect on Hesed, I see how true love isn't just a feeling, but an active, loyal choice that persists. Another scripture that resonated deeply within my journaling was Matthew 19:6: 'So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.' While specifically about marriage, the underlying principle speaks to the enduring nature of a bond that is divinely ordained and nurtured. It’s a powerful reminder that when love is founded on spiritual principles, it possesses an inherent resilience. My Bible journaling became a sacred space for me to process these truths. Drawing hearts, using pink highlights (just like in some of my pages!), and writing out these definitions helped me internalize them beyond just reading. It's not that life becomes free of pain or disappointment; rather, it’s about understanding that the essence of true love, as defined and exemplified in scripture, is inherently unfailing. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. So, to answer the question, 'does love fail?' My heart, guided by these timeless truths, confidently says: No, not the kind of love that truly matters. It truly Love Never Fails.
