Why do they love so radically?' I used to ask myself that question all the time. For me, the answer truly began when I started to deeply understand who God is, not just as a concept, but as a living presence in my life. It really is a journey of 'being still and knowing.' My own spiritual journey, much like the 'Day 40 WHO IS THIS GOD I WORSHIP?' devotional mentioned in my notes, has been transformative. It’s about reflecting on His incredible character, as described even in verses like 1 Corinthians 1:9, which reminds us of God's faithfulness. When you grasp that faithfulness, it opens your heart to trust, and that trust is the foundation for a love that extends far beyond our natural capabilities. Let me share how understanding God in His various glorious roles has empowered me to love others in a way I never thought possible: God as Father: When I truly embrace God as my loving Father, I feel unconditionally accepted and cherished. This frees me from seeking validation elsewhere and allows me to extend that same grace and acceptance to others, even when they're difficult to love. It’s a love that says, 'You are worthy, just as you are.' God as Friend: Knowing God as my most loyal Friend teaches me the depth of companionship and unwavering support. This inspires me to be a steadfast friend to others, offering empathy, listening without judgment, and standing by them through thick and thin. My friendships have become richer and more resilient. God as Teacher and Guide: When I look to God as my divine Teacher and Guide, I gain wisdom and discernment. This isn't just about personal growth; it's about knowing how to love *wisely*. Sometimes, radical love isn't just about giving; it's about guiding someone towards what's truly best for them, even if it's uncomfortable. It helps me offer counsel that genuinely helps, not just placates. God as Counselor: In moments of confusion or pain, God is my Counselor. He offers peace and perspective. This experience allows me to be a more compassionate counselor to others, understanding their struggles and offering comfort rooted in hope, rather than just my own limited understanding. God as Provider and Supporter: Perhaps most powerfully, understanding God as my ultimate Provider and Supporter has transformed my generosity. When I realize that all I have comes from Him, and He sustains me, it makes it easier to give freely of my time, resources, and energy. It's a love that actively seeks to meet the needs of others, knowing that I am never truly lacking because He supplies all I need. This empowers me to be a tangible support system for those around me, whether through a meal, a helping hand, or just being present. This holistic understanding of God's character isn't just theology for me; it's the very wellspring of a love so profound that, yes, it often makes people wonder why. It’s a love that originates from Him, flows through me, and impacts everyone I encounter. It's a daily choice to reflect His nature in my interactions, making my life a testament to His radical love.
