Things I Don’t Tolerate Anymore

2025/9/7 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! You know that feeling when you just keep saying "it's fine" even when deep down, it's really, really not? Yeah, I've been there. For years, I found myself in situations where I was constantly tolerating things that chipped away at my well-being. Looking back, it was a pattern of one-sided effort, where I'd pour all my energy into relationships or friendships only to receive very little in return. I’d often face disrespect, whether it was my time being taken for granted, my feelings being dismissed, or just generally not being heard. And the worst part? I often felt guilty for saying no, which meant I rarely did. This cycle left me exhausted and questioning my own worth. I realized I was wearing a smiling mask, just like that image from my past, trying to pretend everything was okay when internally, I was crumbling. It took a lot of introspection to finally admit that this wasn't sustainable, and that true emotional growth meant facing these uncomfortable truths head-on. Setting boundaries felt incredibly daunting at first. It meant having difficult conversations, sometimes with people I cared about, and sometimes it meant letting go. But I learned that boundaries aren't about building walls; they're about creating a healthy space for yourself to thrive. It’s about teaching people how to treat you, and more importantly, teaching yourself that you deserve respect and peace. My journey started with small steps. I began by identifying what specifically made me feel drained or disrespected. Was it always being the one to initiate plans? Was it friends who only called when they needed something? Was it constantly compromising my own needs for others? Once I recognized these patterns, I could begin to address them. For instance, instead of instantly agreeing to every request, I started saying, "Let me check my schedule and get back to you." This simple phrase gave me the space to evaluate if it was truly something I wanted to do, rather than automatically defaulting to "yes." It also involved understanding that self-respect isn't selfish. It's essential. When you value yourself, you naturally start to attract people and situations that align with that value. I realized that my energy is precious, and I have the right to protect it. This meant stepping back from relationships that consistently drained me without reciprocation, even if it was hard. It meant speaking up when I felt my boundaries were being crossed, even if my voice trembled. The change wasn't overnight, but slowly, I started to feel lighter. My "glow-up journey" wasn't just about external changes; it was deeply internal. I felt more confident, more authentic, and genuinely happier. The peace of mind that comes from living a toxic-free life, surrounded by people who uplift and respect you, is truly invaluable. So if you're feeling stuck in that "it's fine" loop, know that you're not alone, and it's absolutely possible to shift into a space of growth and better boundaries. You deserve it!

Things I had to unlearn to heal
