... Read moreHey fellow bookworms! September is officially upon us, and you know what that means for us horror lovers – it's practically spooky season already! My stack of September releases to be read (TBR) is growing, and I can't wait to share some of the most anticipated horror titles making their debut this month. If you're looking for your next spine-chilling read, you've come to the right place! First up on my must-read September 2024 horror book releases list is 'The Mean Ones' by Tatiana Schlote-Bonne, hitting shelves on September 30th. Just looking at the cover, with a woman's face dramatically split by antlers, gives me goosebumps! I'm expecting a truly visceral and unsettling horror experience from this one. It promises to be a dark journey into something primal and terrifying. Then, for those who love a blend of horror and diverse storytelling, 'The Season of Fear' by Emily Cooper (released September 2nd) sounds incredible. It's an LGBT horror novel, and the cover, featuring a woman's face adorned with natural, almost eerie elements, suggests a deep connection to nature with a sinister twist. I'm always on the lookout for fresh voices in LGBT horror, and this one has my full attention. If gothic mystery is more your style, you absolutely have to check out 'The House of Quiet' by Kiersten White, out on September 9th. The cover depicting an ornate, cage-like house sets the perfect atmospheric tone for a gothic mystery horror novel. I'm anticipating a story filled with secrets, suspense, and a pervasive sense of dread – perfect for a cozy, eerie night in. Another exciting LGBT horror release this September 30th is 'Hollow' by Taylor Grothe. The stylized raven intertwined with organic elements on the cover is so hauntingly beautiful. I'm eager to see what kind of dark magic and unsettling narratives Grothe weaves in this tale. It feels like it could be a psychological horror masterpiece. For fans of classic retellings with a modern, inclusive twist, 'Make Me A Monster' by Kalynn Bayron (September 30th) is an LGBT Frankenstein retelling! The cover with a person featuring glowing eyes surrounded by purple roses is just stunning and intriguing. I adore Frankenstein stories, and I can't wait to see Bayron's unique take on this iconic tale, especially with the added LGBT themes. Young adult horror gets a spotlight with 'The Moss' by Lisa Lueddecke, also releasing on September 30th. It features a young woman with glowing eyes in a forest – a classic setup that always delivers. I'm hoping for some intense creature features or perhaps a creepy folk horror vibe from this YA horror novel. It sounds like a perfect read for those who enjoy a good scare without being overly graphic. Shifting gears to science fiction horror, we have 'You Weren't Meant To Be Human' by Andrew Joseph White, coming out on September 9th. The description of a science fiction alien invasion novel with red worm-like elements on the title itself is enough to pique my interest! I'm picturing a terrifying, fast-paced story of humanity fighting for survival against an otherworldly threat. This feels like it could be a truly unique experience. Last but not least, another fantastic YA horror entry is 'The Dead of Summer' by Ryan La Sala, available from September 16th. The cover, featuring a stone bust adorned with colorful coral, is both beautiful and unsettling. I'm curious about the blend of summer aesthetics with horror elements – perhaps a haunted summer camp or a dark secret hidden beneath a seemingly idyllic setting. YA horror often surprises me with its depth and scares. So there you have it, my top September 2024 horror book releases that I'm absolutely buzzing to read! Whether you're into gothic mysteries, LGBT horror, YA scares, or alien invasions, this month has something for every horror enthusiast. What's on your September TBR? Let me know in the comments – I'd love to hear what spine-tinglers you're picking up!
