DIY MOSQUITO RELELLENT

My roommate had an abundance of sage and rosemary growing in the garden so I pruned some of it back and rolled the leaves into bundles with twine. After letting them dry out in a paper bag for a few weeks i brought them with me on a camping trip. They burned great, just like a smudge stick and definitely helped to ward off mosquitos!

These plants contain essential oils that are known for their bug-repelling properties. To make your own mosquito repellent, gather fresh sage and rosemary leaves from your garden or local market. After drying them, bundle the leaves together with twine and allow them to cure in a paper bag for a few weeks. This method preserves the herb's potency, making your repellent more effective. You can also enhance the effectiveness of your repellent by combining these herbs with other natural ingredients such as citronella, eucalyptus oil, or even mint. These combinations not only increase the potency of your repellent but also provide a more pleasant smell. It's important to remember that while natural repellents can be effective, they may not work as long as commercial products. Therefore, regular reapplication might be necessary, especially during peak mosquito activity hours. When camping, using herbal bundles for smoking can help create a barrier against annoying insects. Most importantly, enjoy your time outdoors without the fear of being bitten! This simple DIY approach to repelling mosquitoes is environmentally friendly and effective, making your outdoor experiences more enjoyable.

I saw a video of a lady saying that someone recommended vanilla water (vanilla extract and water) in a spray bottle and spray yourself with it. She swears by it. I haven't tried it yet, but I will this year. mosquitos always tear me up.
