Phantom by H.D. Carlton Review!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• Beautiful story of course. Loved seeing Gigi and Ronaldo’s POV’s. I will say if H.D. Carlton wasn’t the author, I don’t know if I would’ve finished the book. I loved it and it was beautiful but it felt very slow and bland throughout the book if that makes sense? I know there wasn’t much Gigi could do everyday but in my opinion it was just really hard at some moments to keep reading. Still a beautiful story 🥹

... Read moreOkay, so diving deeper into Phantom by H.D. Carlton, I wanted to share a bit more about what makes this book tick, especially for those wondering if it's their next dark romance read. First off, let's talk about the cover because it's pretty iconic and often the first thing that catches your eye! The edition I read features that striking imagery with a red rose, a red heart, and white stars against a dark background, often with a dark, smoky background vibe. It perfectly sets the mood for the intense, slightly gothic romance within. It definitely hints at the passion and the darker themes you'll encounter. For those asking, 'what is Phantom by H.D. Carlton about?' – at its core, it's a deeply emotional and often intense dark romance focusing on the complex relationship between Gigi and Ronaldo. The story follows Gigi, a young woman who finds herself entangled with the mysterious and formidable Ronaldo. Their connection is undeniable, but it's built on secrets, past trauma, and a sense of inescapable destiny. It delves into their individual struggles and how their paths intertwine in a world that isn't always kind. It’s certainly not a light read, exploring themes of obsession, revenge, and ultimately, a powerful, albeit dark, love. Now, about the 'spicy level' – since it's an H.D. Carlton novel and falls squarely into the dark romance genre, you can expect the heat to be turned up. The intimacy between Gigi and Ronaldo is a significant part of their story, reflecting their intense connection and the darker aspects of their relationship. It’s definitely for mature readers who appreciate explicit scenes that contribute to the emotional and psychological depth of the characters and their bond. It’s not just for shock value; it serves the narrative. My initial thoughts mentioned the pacing feeling a bit slow at times, and I stand by that. While the story between Gigi and Ronaldo is beautiful and deeply moving, there are moments where the plot meanders, making it a bit challenging to keep turning pages consistently. However, the emotional payoff and the unique dynamic between the two main characters make it worthwhile if you're patient. The character development, especially seeing both Gigi's and Ronaldo's points of view, is incredibly strong and keeps you invested in their journey. And for dedicated H.D. Carlton fans, there's even a bonus chapter that adds a little extra to the experience. If you love deeply flawed characters, intricate plots, and a romance that pushes boundaries, you’ll likely find something to appreciate here, even with its slower moments.
