1. The routine begins in the shower, Always exfoliate! It gets rid of excess product such as lotion or perfume. It also gets rid of dead skin cells that has been sitting on your skin. It helps your tan be more even.
2. USE SUNSCREEN! I cannot stress this enough! Sunscreen is so important, that should be common knowledge.
3. Use a tanning oil. It helps perfect the tan and the suns radiation to absorb in your skin.
4. Make a routine! You can’t just eyeball it, the tan will be splotchy and the results will not look even. Make sure you do an even amount of time on your back and stomach.
In my personal experience, achieving the best tan isn’t just about laying in the sun; it’s about preparing your skin properly and following a disciplined routine. One of the key steps I swear by is exfoliation using natural sugar scrubs, like the popular TREE HUT Shea Sugar Scrub in scents like Strawberry or Watermelon Cotton Candy. These scrubs not only remove dead skin cells but also eliminate residual lotion or perfume that could prevent an even tan. I always exfoliate thoroughly in the shower before heading outside. Equally important is the use of sunscreen with SPF 30 to 50. While it might seem counterintuitive when seeking a tan, sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays, preventing burns and long-term skin damage. For my tanning sessions, I reapply sunscreen frequently, especially if the UV index is high, ensuring my skin stays protected without sacrificing my tan. Adding a tanning oil, like the Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Oil infused with coconut oil, has been a game changer. It helps enhance the absorption of the sun’s rays and moisturizes my skin, resulting in a deeper, richer tan. The key is to apply the oil evenly and reapply it alongside sunscreen to maintain hydration and protection throughout the exposure. Creating a structured tanning schedule has also improved my results significantly. I adjust my tanning time based on the day’s UV index—typically 15 minutes on each side when UV is above 7 and 30 minutes each side for lower UV levels, repeating the cycle multiple times over a two-hour span. This avoids uneven, splotchy tanning and builds a consistent color gradually. Finally, pay attention to skin care post-tanning. After sun exposure, moisturizing with aloe vera or hydrating lotions helps soothe and maintain the tan longer. Always listen to your skin and avoid overexposure to keep it healthy. By combining these steps, my tanning routine not only delivers a beautiful glow but also prioritizes skin health and safety.
