Say hello to Tita!
she is 18 years old! #cats
It's hard to believe, but my sweet Tita has officially reached the incredible age of 18! It feels like just yesterday I was bringing home a tiny, playful kitten, and now she's a wise, graceful matriarch of our home. Every day with her is a gift, and I wanted to share a little bit about what makes life with an 18-year-old cat so special, and sometimes, a little challenging too, but always rewarding. Tita has always been a cat with a distinct personality. In her younger years, she was a mischievous explorer, climbing curtains and chasing unseen dust bunnies with boundless energy. Now, she's much more of a connoisseur of comfort. You'll usually find her curled up in her favorite sunbeam spot on the living room rug, or nestled into a soft blanket on the sofa, purring contentedly. Her purr is still as strong as ever, a deep rumble that instantly melts away any stress. Caring for an 18-year-old cat does come with its own set of considerations. We've adjusted her diet to a senior formula, which is easier on her digestion and provides the right nutrients for her aging body. Hydration is also super important, so we have multiple water bowls around the house and even a little pet fountain that she loves to drink from. Regular vet check-ups are non-negotiable; staying on top of her health means we can catch any issues early and ensure she's as comfortable as possible. We've learned to recognize the subtle signs of when she might be feeling a bit stiff or a little under the weather. One of the biggest joys is simply observing her. She still has her moments of playfulness, batting at a dangling string or chasing a laser pointer for a few minutes before settling back into a nap. Her eyes, though a little cloudy with age, still hold that spark of curiosity. She's also become incredibly affectionate, often seeking out lap time for cuddles and head scratches. It's truly amazing to witness her resilience and gentle spirit. Having Tita for so long has taught me so much about unconditional love and companionship. She's been through so many life changes with me, a constant, comforting presence. There's a unique bond that forms when you share nearly two decades with an animal, a silent understanding that goes beyond words. If you're lucky enough to have a senior pet, you know exactly what I mean. Cherish every moment, because they truly are golden.
