1 cup heavy cream

1 cup milk

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves

Salt & black pepper, to taste

½ tsp nutmeg (optional)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1½ cups shredded Gruyère cheese

2 tbsp butter, softened (for dotting)

📌 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter a baking dish.

2️⃣ Layer Potatoes: Arrange a layer of potato slices in the dish. Season with garlic, thyme, salt & pepper.

3️⃣ Cream Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together cream, milk, optionally nutmeg, and a bit of salt & pepper.

4️⃣ Build Gratin: Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes. Add Parmesan and most of the Gruyère, saving some for topping.

5️⃣ Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake 30 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining Gruyère on top, dot with butter, and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

6️⃣ Rest & Serve: Let the gratin sit for 5–10 minutes before serving to set slightly and make slicing easier.
