SHENZHEN WHAT TO EAT 😋

Today, would like to share with you all the BEST places LOCALS eat in Shenzhen - recommended only by my local family friend :)

1. 顺德

✅ What impressed me the most was their Chicken platter. The way it was marinated with an assorted array of vegetables, and subsequently mixing it together like Lohei. This was chefs kiss

2。费大厨

✅ If you are a Xiang Xiang Hunan lover, then you will HAVE TO try this!

✅ All their dishes were cooked similarly to XXH, but with more flavour! Beware though, it’s more greasy as well ;)

3。 西塔老太太泥炉烤肉

✨must order: Grilled EEL!

✅ My local family friend brought us to this outlet situated in COCOPARK, which was where the locals visited to eat on a Friday night

You HAVE TO order their grilled eel. This was a taste I can’t find in Singapore :)

4。阿嬷手作

✨Must order: Rice Wine fermented milk tea

✅ In SG, most would rank Chagee as Tier 1 in the pyramid of all milk tea chains. In China, THIS is the Tier 1 outlet to visit. Make sure you get the above drink because you also won’t be able to get this taste here in SG :)

5。HK Char Chan Teng

✨Must order: EGGTART!

6。哥二广西米粉

✨must order: signature noodles

7。 Sudaxing bakery

✨Must order: EGGTART!

8。遇见小面

... Read moreShenzhen's food scene offers more than just popular dishes—it’s a vibrant blend of unique local flavors and culinary traditions. One of my favorite experiences was trying the rice wine fermented milk tea at 阿嬷手作, a refreshing drink that stands out even when compared to top milk tea spots in Singapore. This delicacy really highlights Shenzhen’s creative approach to traditional beverages. Additionally, if you love noodles, don’t miss out on the signature offerings at 哥二广西米粉 and 遇见小面, which represent the beloved Guangxi and Chongqing flavors respectively. These noodle shops capture the soul of regional Chinese cuisine and offer a comforting yet exciting meal option. For bakery enthusiasts, Sudaxing bakery is a treasure trove of freshly handmade treats, especially their multilayered eggtarts, which boast a delightful crispy and creamy texture unlike anything else. These eggtarts continually draw both locals and visitors, showing the strong influence of Cantonese-style pastries in Shenzhen. When visiting Shenzhen, exploring food at places like COCO Park added a vibrant nightlife dining experience, especially with grilled eel from 西塔老太太泥炉烤肉, which I found particularly memorable thanks to its smoky, bold flavors—definitely a dish to hunt down. Overall, the local recommendations offer an authentic taste of Shenzhen’s diverse food culture. Vietnamese, Hunanese, Cantonese, and indigenous culinary influences come together in this fast-developing city, providing a flavorful adventure for every palate. Whether you're in the mood for street-style noodles, handcrafted tea drinks, or inventive grilled meats, Shenzhen’s local favorites promise an unforgettable culinary journey.
