Hey foodies! After my recent trip to the Delaware State Fair, I wanted to share some extra tips and tricks to make your food adventure even better. While my main post covers specific reviews, there's so much more to know to conquer all the deliciousness! First things first, plan your attack! The Delaware State Fair, running from July 17-26, 2025, is huge, and you don't want to miss out. I always recommend going with an empty stomach – obviously! But also, consider sharing. Those Turkey Legs are massive, and a Bucket of Fries can be overwhelming for one. Sharing lets you try more without getting too full too fast. My partner and I split a lot of things, which was perfect for tasting a wider variety. It gets hot out there, so don't forget to hydrate! While that Pina Colada + Strawberry Smoothie in a Pineapple is a dream (seriously, 10000/10!), and the Strawberry Lavender Lemonade from Harvey Haven is incredibly refreshing, plain water is essential. Look for stands offering water or even bring your own sealed bottle if allowed to keep those costs down. While I gave my honest ratings on staples like the Pretzel Bites and a Slice of Pizza, don't be afraid to venture out. I loved the Chicken Kabob, especially how juicy the chicken was with those perfectly cooked onions. Sometimes the hidden gems are the best! Keep an eye out for unique offerings that might not be on every fair's menu. And don't forget the Roasted Corn – a classic for a reason! Fair food can add up quickly, so I always try to set a budget beforehand. Prioritize what you REALLY want to try. For me, that meant splurging on the Turkey Leg and that delicious smoothie. If you're on a tighter budget, sometimes a Roasted Corn or a good old Pretzel Bite can be a satisfying and cheaper option. You can also look for combo deals or happy hour specials if any are available. To avoid the longest lines, try eating a bit earlier or later than peak lunch/dinner times. We grabbed our Chicken Kabob mid-afternoon and the line was much shorter. This gives you more time to enjoy your food and the fair atmosphere without feeling rushed. Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends too! Ultimately, fair food is part of the experience! Don't stress too much about finding perfection in every bite. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, the incredible smells, and the sheer variety. Even if something like the Bucket of Fries isn't a hit (mine was way too oily!), it's all part of the adventure. What are YOUR must-try foods when you visit the Delaware State Fair?
