The best decision of my life was to start running
Starting to run was one of the most transformative choices I've ever made, and I can personally attest to the profound impact it has on both the body and mind. At first, it wasn’t about speed or distance; it was simply about putting one foot in front of the other and enjoying the rhythm of each stride. Living in Puerto Rico, the beautiful scenery and warm climate made running outside incredibly enjoyable, providing a daily escape and meditation of sorts. From my experience, the mental clarity gained during a run helped reduce stress and anxiety, allowing me to face daily challenges with a refreshed mindset. Over time, I noticed improvements in my energy levels, better sleep, and a stronger immune system. Running also introduced me to a wonderful community of like-minded individuals who motivated and supported each other. A big part of this journey was setting realistic goals—starting with short distances and gradually increasing—with patience and persistence. Listening to my body, respecting rest days, and celebrating small milestones kept me motivated. This approach not only helped me avoid injury but also maintained my enthusiasm for running over the years. If you’re thinking about starting to run, I would encourage you to focus less on speed and more on consistency and enjoyment. Use the local environment, like parks or quiet streets, to make your runs refreshing and fun. Over time, running can become a source of joy, personal growth, and a powerful tool for a healthier lifestyle. Remember, the best decision I made wasn't just starting to run—it was committing to lifelong well-being one step at a time.
