CANVA Creators Event
I am sure you all know what Canva is. This event took place in May, yes I am a little late, but I did take a social media break for my mental health. Sometimes breaks are needed, because it can become overwhelming, and one of my favorite things about social media is social media isn’t real. This event was for launching a whole bunch of new features that Canva wanted to show business owners and creators since that is their main audience using their software. I was lucky to receive an invitation to go to this because I know I did not have money to pay for a seat, I would like to say it was pretty cool hearing Mindy Kaling speak. She was the person I was looking forward to hearing because as a person of color AND a woman in the industry, she is someone I would want to hear from. I love, graphic designing, I love acting, singing, and one day I hope I can creative write and produce as well.
I went as a business owner, not a content creator. I wanted to connect with other people and get more out there hear other peoples perspectives on how to run a business and what they do to run a business and how Canva helps them in all their endeavors. Turns out this is something Canva does every year, but this was their first time doing it in Los Angeles. Their first time in America because Canva is Sydney, Australia based. This was my first time in LA, so I got to explore LA as well. I ended up going to San Diego before as well.
This was a fun experience for me however there’s a lot more Canva could have done differently. Especially with the food because food was cold, but I was hungry so I ate it anyways. I will be speaking more about this in my YouTube, because I did vlog this event. Everything‘s better in 4K. This was my first event, well big creators event that was held by a company like Canva, and it was even sponsored by YouTube as you can see.
