I spent hours just wandering, sipping on delicious Colombian coffee, and soaking in the energy. Every corner seemed to offer a new photo opportunity, from intricate street art to charming patios. You’ll find so many unique eateries and bars here – it's a paradise for foodies and those looking for a lively evening. It's the perfect spot for people-watching and experiencing Medellin's trendy side. Another incredibly impactful experience for me was exploring Comuna 13. What was once a challenging area has transformed into a symbol of resilience and artistic expression. Taking a guided tour is a must to understand its history, witness the incredible street art (graffiti and murals are everywhere!), and experience the vibrant dance and music performances by local artists. The escalators that connect the hillside neighborhoods are a marvel in themselves, offering stunning panoramic views of the city below. It truly tells a powerful story of community and hope, and I even saw a hot air balloon floating above, which added to the magical feel. Beyond the city core, Medellin offers so much adventure. I took a day trip out to see La Piedra del Peñol near Guatapé – climbing those stairs to the top was a workout, but the 360-degree views of the emerald lakes and islands were absolutely breathtaking. Getting around in a brightly painted mototaxi was an adventure in itself! And let's talk about the people – the 'Paisas' are incredibly friendly and proud of their city. I found everyone so eager to share their culture and recommendations, which made my trip even more special. From the iconic 'Medellín te quiero' signs that greet you around the city to the lively street scenes, you just feel welcomed everywhere. Medellin isn't just a destination; it's an experience that captivates your senses and leaves you wanting more.
