the dinner list 📋

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Dinner List by Rebecca Serle was such a unique and an emotional read. The whole idea of having dinner with five people (alive or not) is already interesting. What if this dinner were to actually happen, can the people you choose get along and get through one dinner together? 🤔

It made me think about my own dinner list afterwards…..who would you include in your dinner list and why? 👀

I’d recommend this book if you want to read something that’s light yet meaningful! 🫶🏽✨

Some of my favourite quotes from the book 📖:

• “Life is growth. If we stop growing, we are as good as dead.”

• “Companionship. Let me sit with you in silence. Let me hold your hand and understand.”

• “It was like the universe had put us on opposite sides so we could walk together then, in that moment, with the sky turning from rage (red, orange) to surrender (blue, yellow) right around us.”

... Read moreReading "The Dinner List" has inspired me to think deeply about who I'd want to share a meal with if given the chance. The book’s concept of gathering five people from any time or place really made me consider the importance of connection and closure in life. It’s not just about who you invite but also about the stories and emotions that emerge during such a gathering. One aspect I found fascinating is how the characters in the novel navigate complex emotions, revealing how shared experience—even with people from different walks of life—can create moments of understanding and healing. This has made me reflect on my own relationships and the value of companionship, especially in silence and support, just as one of the poignant quotes states: “Companionship. Let me sit with you in silence. Let me hold your hand and understand.” Furthermore, the idea of life as continual growth resonates deeply with me. Through the story, I realized how vital it is to embrace change and keep evolving to truly live. This theme encouraged me to approach my personal challenges with more openness and hope. On a practical note, thinking about my own dinner list helped me appreciate the impact that people—whether family, friends, or even historical figures—have on my life. It's an exercise in gratitude and curiosity, imagining conversations that might never happen but are meaningful to consider. Overall, "The Dinner List" is more than just a story; it prompts us to reflect on our own lives and relationships in a gentle but profound way. For anyone who enjoys heartfelt novels with an insightful twist, this book is a rewarding read that stays with you long after you turn the last page.
