New R&B Music ~ February Favorites! 🎶

I LOVE R&B and it’s part of my routine to always check out the “RNB Only” page on IG on Fridays to check out some new (and) old artists who dropped music that week or day. Even though NOTHING will top ‘90s R&B era 🥺 I will spend all my days trying to find artists and songs that fit that time period esthetic.

These 4 were my favorite R&B songs from last month that I discovered!

Artist: Usher

Song Title: One of them ones 🎵

Vibe: Medium Paced; Lovey; Bop

⭐️ This song is from his recent project (which received mix reviews more on that below) and I didn’t appreciate this song until he used it on IG to sho glimpses of his wedding in Vegas. When I realized it’s a WEDDING song it provided way more context which made me really enjoy the song, and then add it to my wedding song playlist. This was on repeat ALL month

💭 Although this wasn’t a notable album to me/most, I think we as listeners struggle trying to force artists in boxes we are accustomed to when they are trying to explore new sounds, with new audiences and in new time. It’s very difficult not to do but if we really appreciate the artists musicianship we need to keep in mind they are trying to grow 🌳 just like we are.

Artists: Jacob Collier ft. John Legend & Tori Kelly

Song: Bridge Over Troubled Water 🎶

Vibe: Smooth R&B

⭐️ Tori Kelly sang her 🍑 off!! I thought it was Yebba (IYKYK) This is a beautiful version of this song - I haven’t heard of this song until now and am so glad they shared it with us.

🗒️ This original song is by Paul Simon.

Artists: Jermaine Dupri ft. Ashanti, Nelly & Juicy J

Song: This Lil’ Game We Play

Vibe: Dancey, Catchy, Cute 💃🏾

⭐️ I haven’t heard anything new from all three of this artists recently so this was a throwback vibe for me. The song was catchy and I loved how Ashanti and Nelly were on it considering they are old flames and may be having a baby!! 👀

Artist: Ryan Destiny

Song: Doctor, My Eyes (Cover)

Vibe: Smooth R&B, Relaxing

⭐️ She has been dropping singles recently since this dropped and this song was the first of her most recent drops, to my knowledge, and it was such a breath of fresh air - I loved it! ♥️

🗒️ The original song is by Khamari
