R&B Music Wedding Must Plays👰🏾♀️🤵🏾♂️💒
💖 I am not engaged yet and the only part of my wedding that has been fully planned out is the MUSIC.
I have been compiling a list for years as popular songs go in and out of style & as I stumble upon by accident (movies, shows, traveling & grocery shopping etc…). I plan to share my wedding song playlist probably every other Wednesday - and maybe ramp it up a little bit once wedding szn is in full swing.
💡 FIRST SONG DANCE CONSIDERATIONS: I think the perfect first song dance is well applied to the bride and groom as opposed to leaning more in the perspective with one person versus the other - these songs PERFECTLY capture this sentiment imo.
💗 MY PREFERENCE: 1) A song we both know the majority of the words to so we can sorta sing it to each other 2) A song we both genuinely enjoy so we can vibe out together
————————— —————————————————
1. At Last - Etta James
Tempo: Very Slow
The classics of all classics, if this isn’t a first dance song this is a must play sometime during the event. So heartfelt. So pure. Truly captures the joy of moving on to your next journey ❤️
2. If The World Were Mine - Luther Vandross & Cheryl Lynn
Tempo: Slow
Another classics of all classics (recently remixed IFYKY). A beautiful love ballad. I love how there are female and male vocalists - which truly captures the idea through song of two people becoming one.
3. After All is Said Done - Beyoncé & Marc Nelson
Tempo: Medium
Black movie wedding song classic imo (& maybe an early 00’s black wedding classic?). I can see this being a first dance song or perfect last dance song!
4. Spend My Life With You - Eric Benét & Tamia
Tempo: Medium/ Slow
Another classic - So good!! 😍 I love this song for the call and response between the male and female vocalists and really speaks the the “honeymoon phase” I anticipate the first year of marriage will be like.

Planning your wedding music can be both exciting and daunting. R&B songs bring a unique charm and emotional depth, making them ideal for key moments like the first dance or reception. Songs like 'At Last' by Etta James and 'If The World Were Mine' by Luther Vandross & Cheryl Lynn, not only evoke nostalgia but also encapsulate the feelings of love and unity. The rhythm and melodies of these tracks can set the mood, whether you're celebrating with friends or sharing intimate moments with your partner. Couples often seek out songs that resonate with their own love story, and that’s where the magic of R&B shines through. Its ability to blend powerful lyrics with beautiful harmonies creates an ambiance that enhances the wedding experience. Besides the classics mentioned, consider including modern R&B hits that reflect today’s love narratives. Collaborations, like 'Spend My Life with You' featuring Eric Benét & Tamia or 'After All Is Said And Done' by Beyoncé & Marc Nelson, can bridge different generations and appeal to a diverse crowd. Think about the themes that matter to you and your partner – from love stories echoing through the decades to contemporary hits that define your relationship. As you build your wedding playlist, remember to incorporate variety and tune into how each song makes you feel. Engage your guests by inviting them to suggest their own favorites, creating a shared experience that honors everyone present on your special day. Ultimately, your wedding music should celebrate your love story, making each moment memorable.

Oooo yes those are definitely some good classics for sure. I absolutely love this. You may have me adding same more songs to my future wedding song list lol.
