A few months ago complex released their Disney Channel Mt. Rushmore - which consisted on the 4 stars above. Which didn’t look like the actresses at all tbh and Zendaya shouldn’t be up there..
ANYWAYS…
The conversation was reinvigorated/ is gaining some buzz because of an interview Alyson Stoner & Complex did.
(SN📖: Alyson is on a press run for her new book called “Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything: A Memoir” and based on the reviews it’s giving vibes similar to the Jennette McCurdy book)
Alyson’s take was more of a small mountain as opposed to a Mt. Rushmore 😅
BUT the ones she chose were just soo.. obscure but oddly specific.
⭐️ Based on the ones she chose, from a Disney channel movie perspective, the actor/actress from Xenon and Eddie’s Million Dollar Cooke Off I can totally get behind.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
My Mt. Rushmore are the GOATS - their shows were super foundational for the shows that succeeded them. There are few other ones that I would entertain, but these four??!!! *chef’s kiss 💋*
I also did a cartoon version of my Mt. Rushmore because those were in a league of their own.
NOTE: I am at late 90s baby so this is who I grew up on, but I know this will be drastically different depending on what generation you’re in.
... Read moreYou know Alyson Stoner, right? That familiar voice that used to say 'You're watching Disney Channel!' before all our favorite shows? Well, she's back in the spotlight, not just for her amazing memoir, but for stirring up the ultimate Disney Channel debate: the Mt. Rushmore.
The idea of a Disney Channel Mt. Rushmore isn't new, but Alyson's recent interview has everyone talking. She mentioned some 'obscure but oddly specific' choices, which honestly, makes you think beyond just the most obvious megastars. For me, it's about who truly shaped the era, whose performances brought those characters to life, and whose shows became cultural touchstones, paving the way for others. These are the actors and actresses who defined our childhoods and whose impact is still felt today.
When I think about the GOATs (Greatest Of All Time) of Disney Channel live-action, my mind immediately jumps to the legends. We're talking about the incredible Raven-Symoné from *That's So Raven*, the iconic Lizzie McGuire, and even the comedic genius of *Even Stevens*. And, of course, Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana – that show was a phenomenon! Later, the channel saw the rise of stars like Selena Gomez and Zendaya, who really broke out from their Disney roots to become global sensations. These shows weren't just popular; they genuinely defined a generation, and the faces on my personal Mt. Rushmore from the OCR results like Raven-Symoné and Miley Cyrus perfectly capture that era.
It’s fascinating to hear Alyson's perspective, especially given her own deep history with the channel. From her early dance roles in movies like Camp Rock and *Cheaper by the Dozen*, to *Step Up*, and even her distinct voice work, she's been a consistent presence in many of our favorite childhood memories. Her 'You're watching Disney Channel!' intros are etched into our memories, making her insights into the channel's legacy particularly poignant. Her memoir, *Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything*, gives us a glimpse into the realities behind the Disney sheen, adding another layer to her opinions on who truly deserves a spot and why some choices might be 'obscure' but deeply personal.
But what about the cartoons? The original post also brought up animated classics, and honestly, *The Proud Family*, *Recess*, *Kim Possible*, and Phineas and Ferb deserve their own monument! They were just as foundational to my childhood as the live-action shows. It's a tough call to narrow it down to just four, isn't it? Every generation has their favorites, and the depth of talent and memorable characters from Disney Channel across decades is truly astounding.
So, after hearing Alyson’s unique take and revisiting some of these classic shows and stars, who makes it onto YOUR Disney Channel Mt. Rushmore – live-action or cartoon? I'm genuinely curious to hear if your picks are 'obscure' or universally loved! Share your thoughts!
Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez for sure. Hilary Duff and Danielle Fisher should be there too.
Character names: Hannah Montana, Alex Russo, Lizzie McGuire and Topanga Lawrence.
Lizzie Maguire, Raven Baxter, Ren Steven, Kim possible and Penny Proud the OGs- with maybe the additional Miley and Alex Russo.
