I miss my mommy

From personal reflections, I’ve noticed that expressing our feelings openly, whether through writing, talking to friends, or joining supportive communities, can help ease the pain. For those who, like me, struggle with the complex feelings mixed with addiction in the family, it becomes especially challenging during occasions like Mother's Day. Understanding that addiction is a disease and not just a personal failing can offer a new perspective for healing. Remembering the positive moments and accepting the imperfections of our loved ones has been a meaningful step towards peace. I’ve found that creating rituals to honor the memory or presence of a mother—like lighting a candle or writing letters—provides comfort and maintains a special connection. It’s important to seek support and not isolate oneself in these feelings. Counseling, support groups, or simply sharing stories can open doors to healing. This journey of missing mommy is unique to each individual, but walking it with compassion and patience helps transform sadness into a quiet strength. There’s also power in acknowledging the complex emotions tied to addiction and love, embracing vulnerability as a part of growth and understanding.
