Time-honored Zunyi’s Rice Noodle “Aunt Xiao Er
The Zunyi local hit eatery — Aunt Xiao Er’s Fresh Pork Leg Sliced Rice Noodles — has opened a branch in Guiyang! (Zunyi folks, come confirm if this place is truly the top local staple!)
📍 Intersection of Baihuashan Road and Daying Road
📖 Online info says this genuine old brand has over 55 years of history! The founder is Grandma Xiao Dequn, known to everyone as Aunt Xiao Er. She’s already 83 years old in 2026.
She started making rice noodles back in 1966 at a state-run catering shop, then opened her own independent store in 1983. Now the business has been passed down through three generations. It’s been popular across Zunyi for more than half a century, basically every local resident has tried it — truly Zunyi’s iconic rice noodle spot.
🏋️♀️ I stopped by right after my workout, and this bowl makes the perfect post-gym carb refuel meal!
1️⃣ Fresh Pork Leg Sliced Rice Noodle (Signature Dish)
They’re extremely strict with meat selection: only hind legs from pigs weighing over 150kg. The meat is lean, firm and tender with no greasy aftertaste.
You can pick either spicy chili oil broth or plain clear broth. The original broth is lightly seasoned with a pure, natural bone soup flavor. If you love bold tastes, you can add salt, vinegar, soy sauce, Sichuan pepper and chili flakes to suit your preference — total customization!
The absolute best part: unlimited refills of rice skin noodles‼️
2️⃣ Boneless Stew Meat
This meat falls off the bones during bone broth simmering, then all large bones are removed. It has a balanced mix of fat and lean meat for rich aroma, but tiny bone fragments may remain, so chew carefully. Skip this if you dislike fatty meat.
The staff said many elderly regulars love adding this meat to their noodles, and I think it tastes great eaten on its own too.
3️⃣ Add a marinated egg
Stack up your protein intake instantly — this combo of carbs plus protein is ideal for gym lovers!
4️⃣ Self-serve pickles
Sour cabbage and pickled radish are a must-have side for rice noodles, don’t miss them!
💡 Final Thoughts:
The overall flavor is decent, not the overly heavy style; it highlights natural pork and bone broth umami. But its low price, clean environment, premium meat and unlimited noodle refills make it an unbeatable value for money.
Truly worthy of its 55-year fame in Zunyi, it nails the classic old Zunyi taste! Would you recommend paying a visit? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
