My Unpopular Opinion about MLWTWB

1.) my first problem with the show is how it started. It was the same cliche and fast life changing experience. I wish it would’ve built up a little more.. introduce her family to us so that we can understand the depth.
2.) Jackie’s outfits…. Were very disappointing to say the very least. How was her mom supposed to be this amazing well known designer and they dress her like a law student 🤦🏽♀️😂.
3.) again on Jackie I want to address that she was wrong for what she did in the show to Alex. I hate the fact that she was at mad him about keeping things from her, but to have him to open up to her about everything and still cheat on Alex just gives me the ick.. The fact that she had Alex groveling for her, constantly apologizing to her for her doubts and mistakes just makes me dislike not only her but Cole. I understand that she lost her parents and she felt alone but she went looking for company in the wrong way. Jackie knew how Cole did Alex dirty and still decided to sleep with and then she ran away like that would solve all her problems. Also why would she even get into a relationship with Alex if she didn’t truly like him?? He was way too good for he but she wanted to have her Kate and Edith too ..That makes me feel like she’s immature…Once a cheater always a cheater 🤦🏽♀️.
4.) let’s talk about Alex. I personally didn’t mind Alex and I know everyone was on TikTok mad that a lot of his scenes were supposed to belong to Cole but what can you do. Although I feel like Alex may have had an ulterior motive at first wanting to keep Jackie to himself seeing as Cole always gets the girls that he wants but I do think he truly cared for Jackie and her well-being towards the middle of the relationship. I’m not going to say him telling Jackie he loved her was wrong because again his feelings are valid and we couldn’t tell him how he feels but I do feel like it was a little too early seeing as she had just lost her parents and the relationship hadn’t been for that long… so that makes me question it.
5.) let’s talk about Cole. Cole i don’t even know where to start … At the beginning I felt he was truly dis-likable and that didn’t change not once through out the entirety of the show. I don’t know if it was just me or not but I’m tired of the whole misunderstood bad boy who just wants to be loved character fr. And as soon as I saw him I automatically thought off-brand Conrad. In the show he was initially rude to Jackie and he wasn’t too fond of her seeing as he was trying to give her this whole “ tough love” situation so that she can get used to the town.. bffr 😑. Her parents just literally died and you want to be a dick. Ewww 🤮not only did he give me the ick just based off his attitude he was so unattractive to me. Now let’s talk about how he was an absolute dick to his brother… how could you sleep with his at the time girlfriend and still try to be cool with him… that’s crazy.. not only did he do it once but twice ( jackie) and at that point he’s just a walking red flag 🚩 and not a good one either 🤦🏽♀️.

It’s always interesting to see how adaptations handle beloved stories, right? Beyond the main trio of Jackie, Cole, and Alex, the 'Walter Boys' family itself is a huge part of the show's premise. There are 10 Walter kids in total, and while the series focuses heavily on Cole and Alex, the dynamic of such a large, blended foster family provides a rich backdrop. I wished we got to see more of the other characters and how Jackie truly integrated, or struggled to integrate, into such a bustling household. It's a big part of why the show gets its TV-14 age rating, dealing with teenage relationships, grief, and family drama, making it suitable for a slightly older audience. And what about a potential Season 2? Given the massive cliffhanger and the unresolved feelings between Jackie, Cole, and Alex, it's pretty clear why everyone's asking! With Jackie heading off, leaving both Walter brothers in limbo, there are so many directions a second season could take. Will she return? Will she choose? I'm personally hoping that if we get a Season 2, they take the opportunity to flesh out character motivations more, especially after my initial disappointments. It’d be great to see the other Walter family members get more screen time too. Imagine diving deeper into the lives of Nathan, Isaac, or Parker!
