Supernatural Game

Okay, so that mock-up PS5 game cover for 'Supernatural' seriously got me thinking! Like many of you, I've always dreamed of stepping into the shoes of Dean and Sam Winchester, driving that iconic Impala, and actually 'Saving People, Hunting Things' myself. The idea of a full-fledged 'Supernatural' game where you can choose to be Dean, with his rock-and-roll attitude and classic lines like 'Driver Picks The Music, Shotgun Shuts His CakeHole!', or the more cerebral Sam, is just incredible. Imagine the open-world investigations, the spooky encounters with monsters and demons, and the intense boss battles against angels and archangels! Seeing that fan-made cover with the '12' age rating really sparked a conversation in my head. What would a 'Supernatural' game need to get a '12' rating, or would it be higher? The show itself often deals with mature themes, violence, and some pretty intense horror, which usually lands it a TV-14 or even TV-MA rating. For a video game, a '12' rating (like the PEGI system uses) typically means it’s suitable for players aged 12 and over, usually involving non-realistic violence towards fantasy characters or less explicit violence towards human-like characters, mild language, and potentially some scary moments. If a real 'Supernatural' PS5 game were to follow the show's tone closely, especially with the gore, language, and mature storylines we've seen, it might lean more towards a '16' or even '18' rating. Think about some of the more gruesome creature designs or the intense psychological struggles the brothers face – that's often beyond a '12' classification. However, a developer could choose to make a 'Supernatural' game that focuses more on the mystery and puzzle-solving aspects, or perhaps a turn-based RPG, which could justify a lower age rating. It really depends on how much they lean into the horror and violence. Considering typical game age rating systems like PEGI in Europe or ESRB in North America, factors like fantasy violence, mild language, partial nudity, or simulated gambling can influence a 'Teen' (ESRB) or '12' (PEGI) rating. For a 'Supernatural' game, the portrayal of violence against supernatural beings, blood and gore, and the use of strong language would be key determinants. If they wanted to keep it at "12" as depicted in the mock-up, they'd likely need to tone down the explicit violence and language compared to the show, or present it in a more stylized, less realistic way.
