Calico splash silkies chickens

Losing our main calico Silkies rooster was tough, but thankfully his legacy lives on! We are lucky to have 10 of his handsome sons to carry on his line.

These boys are 'blue roos' carrying one copy of the splash gene. In chicken genetics, it takes two copies of the splash gene (one from each parent) to fully express a visual 'splash' coat. Because these roosters have just one copy, they showcase this stunning blue plumage instead!

By breeding these boys, the next generation should bring us some absolutely gorgeous calico Silkies. We are strictly selecting for beautiful breed type, dark eyes, and that signature dark skin we all love to see in our Silkies—definitely no pink skin here! 🧬
