This is the 4th book in this series and personally not my favorite, but I did really enjoy the story. I am going to do my best to give a spoiler free review but there is no promises on my end.
📚
This book is about college senior Sabrina James and how she has her whole future planned right after graduation. She is a hard worker who wants to become a Harvard Law student and kicks butt everyday. After one night of wild fun with Briars Hockey player Tucker, her whole world turns upside down
📚
I was nervous starting this book, because in the 3 books leading up to this one, Tucker was laid back and just seemed quiet. And every other book places Sabrina in the BITCH.which you come to find out that she has her reasons and stubbornness to be like this.
📚
i really did end up liking this books since it is not like the rest of them. Tucker turns out to be the sweetest man in the world falling in love with the girl of his dreams. Whereas Sabrina, fights the urge to fall in love with Tucker because she believe that this is going to ruin her chances of achieving her dreams.
... Read moreHey fellow book lovers! I've been seeing a lot of buzz around Elle Kennedy's books lately, and if you're like me, you're probably wondering where to start or if ‘The Goal’ is worth diving into. Let me share some thoughts that go a bit deeper than my initial review, especially if you're curious about the Off-Campus series or just looking for your next great read.
First off, 'The Goal' is Book 4 in the incredibly popular Off-Campus series. If you haven't started yet, the reading order typically goes 'The Deal,' 'The Mistake,' 'The Score,' and then 'The Goal.' Each book focuses on a different Briar University hockey player and their love story, but they all interconnect, which is part of the fun! These books are famous for their witty banter, steamy romance, and surprisingly emotional depth, making them a staple for contemporary romance fans looking for engaging reads in English.
Let's talk about the cover of 'The Goal' itself, which many of you might have searched for! It's so iconic and perfectly captures the vibe of the story. The cover often features two figures, representing Tucker and Sabrina, sometimes holding hands on an ice rink, with the man in a distinctive red hoodie. Seeing that 'Book 4' label and 'New York Times Bestselling Author' always adds to the excitement, doesn't it? The subtle details, like the ice rink, hint at the hockey romance theme without giving too much away, drawing you into their world even before you open the first page.
What makes ‘The Goal’ stand out in the series, even for someone who initially had reservations like I did? Well, Tucker, the quiet hockey star, truly shines. He’s often in the background in previous books, but here, his gentle strength and unwavering devotion to Sabrina are just swoon-worthy. And Sabrina, oh Sabrina! She’s complex, driven, and often misunderstood. Her journey of balancing ambitious Harvard Law dreams with unexpected love is incredibly relatable. Their dynamic isn't just about instant chemistry; it's about breaking down walls and discovering what truly matters. It felt like a fresh take on the 'opposites attract' trope, with both characters growing so much throughout the story.
If you've enjoyed ‘The Goal’ and want more from Elle Kennedy, you're in luck! She has a fantastic backlist. The Briar U series is a direct spin-off from Off-Campus, featuring new characters at Briar University and continuing the college hockey romance theme. Books like 'The Chase' and 'The Risk' are great follow-ups. She also has other amazing standalones and series like 'Good Girl Complex' or 'Deal with the Devil' with Sarina Bowen, which offer different vibes but maintain her signature engaging storytelling. Her books consistently deliver on strong character arcs and satisfying romance.
Ultimately, 'The Goal' isn't just another romance novel; it’s a story that explores ambition, vulnerability, and the unexpected ways love can challenge our carefully laid plans. It’s a truly captivating read that solidified my love for the Off-Campus series and Elle Kennedy’s writing. If you’re looking for a book that will make you laugh, swoon, and maybe shed a tear or two, I highly recommend picking this one up!
