Dining at Kiti Panit Chiang Mai

I had no plan to eat here at first — it was just near my hotel in Chiang Mai. I actually tried to go to one of the popular Michelin restaurants, but it was sooo crowded. So instead of waiting in line, I decided to try Kiti Panit… and honestly, I’m so glad I did 🤍

This place is popular too, but it feels more classic and peaceful. The restaurant is inside a beautiful old building with so much history — you can really feel the charm of old Chiang Mai.

Here’s what I ordered:

✨ Khao Soi Gao – rich, creamy curry with deep flavor. Super comforting.

🌶️ Nam Prik Num – smoky green chili dip, simple but very addictive.

🍃 Yam Bai Cha Muk – fresh, slightly tangy, very unique taste.

🥩 Seua Rong Hai – juicy grilled beef, tender and flavorful.

Everything was honestly so good. I wasn’t expecting much because it was just “near my hotel,” but it turned out to be one of my favorite meals in Chiang Mai. Sometimes instead of chasing the most hyped places, it’s better to slow down and try somewhere classic with real local vibes.

Would definitely come back again 🥹

Chiang Mai
2/28 Edited to

... Read moreWhen traveling to Chiang Mai, I found that stepping away from the busiest tourist restaurants can lead to surprisingly authentic and memorable meals. Kiti Panit offers a calm atmosphere inside a beautifully preserved old building, which adds to the dining experience by connecting you to the history of the city. One of the highlights was the Khao Soi Gao—a creamy, spicy coconut curry noodle soup that perfectly balances richness and spice, making it a comforting meal especially on cooler evenings. The Nam Prik Num, a smoky green chili dip, pairs wonderfully with crispy vegetables or sticky rice and provides a delightful hit of smoky heat that lingers pleasantly. I also appreciated the Yam Bai Cha Muk, a lesser-known northern Thai salad with fresh herbs and a tangy flavor that felt refreshingly different from typical Thai salads. The grilled beef, Seua Rong Hai, was juicy and tender, showcasing how simple ingredients can be elevated with perfect grilling. From personal experience, dining at a place like Kiti Panit not only satisfies your taste buds but also immerses you in the local culture—something often overlooked when chasing famous or Michelin-rated restaurants. The peaceful setting gave me space to enjoy my meal thoughtfully and digest the unique flavors of northern Thai cuisine. If you plan to visit, checking their full menu online beforehand helps, as they may have seasonal specials or authentic dishes not commonly found elsewhere. This approach led me to discover hidden culinary gems. Overall, Kiti Panit impressed me with its genuine flavors, historic ambiance, and friendly service. It’s an ideal spot for travelers who want to experience traditional northern Thai food in a relaxed environment away from the crowds. I’d highly recommend it as a must-visit food destination in Chiang Mai.

Dining Area & Dining Table
I get a lot of questions about my dining table. Yes, it’s not real wood! I love having a wood element at home, but the maintenance can be quite a hassle if you’re not careful. Example things like water stains, marker stains, and scratches from plates, cups or even scissors. I also don’t like
