I got through 16 books this month. Most were short lil romances.
Only one 5⭐️ read this month. How My Neighbor Stole Christmas by Meghan Quinn. I stared it so high purely for the amount of times it made me actually giggle. The plot was typical but it was a silly goofy time.
Pride and Prejudice was also 5⭐️ but that was a reread it will always be 5⭐️ for me.
I have started the Throne of Glass series finally. I’m glad I chose to read Assassins Blade first. The way I cried huge tears for Sam Cortland! He deserved so much better!
... Read moreWow, hitting 16 books in a single month like December felt like a huge accomplishment! I know for many, the holiday season means less reading time, but for me, it's the perfect excuse to snuggle up with a good book. My goal was to dive into some lighthearted reads to balance out the festive chaos, and I definitely succeeded with a stack of short romances. It felt great to reach such a high number, especially when life gets busy.
My absolute standout 5-star read was 'How My Neighbor Stole Christmas.' This one truly made me giggle out loud multiple times – which is a rare feat for me! If you're searching for a holiday romance that doesn't take itself too seriously but still delivers all the festive feels, this is it. It had that perfect blend of witty banter, heartwarming holiday spirit, and cozy Christmas vibes, complete with a charming snowy background that just transports you. The plot might have been typical, but sometimes, a silly, goofy time is exactly what you need to unwind during the hustle and bustle of December. It's the kind of book that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
Alongside the delightful new holiday romance titles, I revisited an old favorite, 'Pride & Prejudice.' It's always a 5-star experience for me, offering that timeless comfort and brilliant character development that never gets old. There's something inherently comforting about curling up with a beloved classic during the colder months that just feels right, like a warm blanket on a chilly evening. It’s a book I can always rely on to brighten my mood.
But beyond the feel-good reads, I also embarked on a much-anticipated journey: the 'Throne of Glass' series. After much debate, I decided to start with 'The Assassin's Blade,' and I honestly can’t recommend that approach enough for new readers. Experiencing Celaena’s backstory and her deep connections, especially with Sam Cortland, before diving into 'Throne of Glass' itself, added so much emotional depth to the entire saga. I found myself completely invested in their journey, and yes, I absolutely cried big, ugly tears for Sam. He truly deserved so much better, and reading his story first made the subsequent events in the main series even more impactful and heartbreaking. It’s a fantastic way to understand the stakes and character motivations right from the start, making the main series even richer.
If you’re looking to boost your reading count or simply find some delightful reads to escape into, short romances are fantastic for that – they’re quick, satisfying, and often come with a guaranteed happy ending! For more winter reads, I often look for stories set in charming, snowy towns or anything with a cozy, heartwarming theme that fits the season. What are your go-to books for getting through a busy month or for simply enjoying the holiday season? I'd love to hear your recommendations and what books made your December special!
