This is gonna bankrupt me #greenscreen #raisinbran #celiac #celiacdisease #celiactiktok
Finding truly delicious and safe gluten-free cereals when you have celiac disease can feel like a never-ending quest, right? After nearly 15 years, I totally get the struggle! While I'm absolutely obsessed with my Purely Elizabeth Cinnamon Raisin Almond superfood cereal – seriously, if you haven't tried it, you might just find your new favorite, even if it is a bit of a splurge from Target – I know one amazing cereal isn't enough to satisfy all our breakfast cravings or fit every budget. That's why I wanted to share some of my other go-to gluten-free cereal options and tips for navigating the cereal aisle. It’s not always about finding the perfect box, but sometimes about knowing what to look for! First off, always, always look for the 'Certified Gluten-Free' label. This little symbol is our best friend, ensuring the product meets strict standards (usually less than 20 ppm gluten). Many brands now clearly label their products, but if you're ever in doubt, check their website. Some cereals might be naturally gluten-free but processed on shared lines, which can be an issue for highly sensitive celiacs. Aside from my current Purely Elizabeth craze, here are a few other brands that often make it into my shopping cart: Chex Cereals (Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Honey Nut Chex): These are classic for a reason! They’re widely available, affordable, and clearly labeled gluten-free. They’re great plain, with fruit, or even as a base for gluten-free treats. Rice Chex was a lifesaver for me in the early days. Nature's Path Organic (Mesa Sunrise, Gorilla Munch): Nature's Path has a dedicated gluten-free line with several delicious options. Their Mesa Sunrise is a fantastic flake cereal, and Gorilla Munch is a hit if you're looking for something a bit sweeter or for kids (or your inner child!). Love Grown Power O's: If you miss Cheerios, these are a fantastic alternative. Made from beans and rice, they offer a good source of protein and fiber and are certified gluten-free. They come in original, chocolate, and strawberry flavors. Three Wishes Cereal: This brand focuses on high-protein, low-sugar options made from chickpeas, tapioca, and pea protein. They have fun flavors like fruity, cocoa, and cinnamon, and are a great choice if you're looking for something more nutritionally dense. Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free Rolled Oats: While not a "cold cereal," these are essential for a warm and comforting breakfast. Just make sure to buy the specifically labeled gluten-free oats, as regular oats can be cross-contaminated during processing. I love adding fruit, nuts, and a drizzle of maple syrup to mine. Remember, taste is so personal! What one celiac loves, another might not. Don't be afraid to experiment, but always prioritize safety. I've wasted my fair share of money on disappointing gluten-free products, but every now and then, you strike gold like I did with Purely Elizabeth. Keep an eye out for sales, too – those certified gluten-free options can definitely add up, so snagging them when they're discounted is a smart move. Happy cereal hunting, fellow celiacs!
