How Pilates changed my life
I was always scared of trying out Pilates with reformer machines bc none of my friends have done it but awhile back I finally decided to try!
I have loved it so much and have experienced so many benefits. The top being clearer mind! As a mom I feel like we always have mom brain so being able to destress and relax set me up for success the next day!!
Definitely check out your local studios to see if there’s a free trial class! #pilatesforbeginners #pilateslifestyle #pilatesaddict #pilatesinstructor #healthylifestyle2024
My initial post only scratched the surface of “HOW PILATES CHANGED MY LIFE,” and I want to dive deeper for anyone still on the fence, just like I was. That fear of the reformer machines was so real! I worried about looking silly, not being strong enough, or simply not understanding what to do. But honestly, stepping into that studio for the first time was one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself. Beyond just a “clearer mind,” which is a huge benefit, Pilates has brought a profound sense of calm into my often-chaotic mom life. Before, even when I had a moment to myself, my mind would still be racing with to-do lists and worries. Now, during a Pilates session, I’m so focused on my breath and movements that everything else fades away. It’s truly meditative. “IT BRINGS CALMNESS TO MY MIND” isn't just a phrase; it's a daily reality that helps me tackle the rest of my day with patience and presence. Physically, the changes have been just as remarkable. While I didn't explicitly mention it before, “MY CORE IS STRONGER” is an understatement! As a mom, carrying kids, grocery bags, and everything else can take a toll on your back. Since starting Pilates, my posture has improved dramatically, and those persistent aches in my lower back are practically gone. I feel more stable, more aligned, and just generally more capable. It’s not about achieving a 'perfect' body, but about building functional strength that supports me in everyday life. The focus on controlled movements has also improved my flexibility and overall body awareness – things I didn't even realize I was missing. Emotionally, the boost in confidence has been unexpected. Each session is a small victory, mastering a new movement or holding a pose a little longer. This sense of accomplishment carries over, making me feel more empowered in other areas of my life. It’s my dedicated hour to reconnect with myself, and it absolutely “CLEARS MY MIND,” allowing me to return to my family feeling refreshed and re-energized. If you’re still thinking about trying Pilates, here are a few practical tips based on my experience. First, don't be afraid to shop around for studios. Many offer introductory packages or even those free trial classes I mentioned. Look for a studio with certified instructors who prioritize proper form over speed. Read reviews, and if possible, talk to current students. When you go for your first class, wear comfortable workout clothes and bring a water bottle. Most studios require grip socks, so you might want to grab a pair. Don't worry about being perfect; everyone starts somewhere! The instructors are there to guide you, and modifications are always available. My journey with Pilates has truly been transformative, and I find myself constantly saying, “Thankful for you!” to this practice. It's more than just an exercise routine; it's a holistic approach to well-being that supports both my physical and mental health. So, if you're thinking about trying Pilates, remember my words: “JUST DO IT!” You might just discover how much it can change your life too.
