Come and see the famous ruins of Pompeii! 🌋 🏛️
I got to visit Pompei while on a cruise this summer, and it was a crazy experience! I learned about Pompeii while in school, and was always so fascinated by it. Seeing it in person, and seeing mt. Vesuvius for myself was such a dream come true. There’s tons of interesting things to see like the remnants of a marketplace, ancient bath houses, mansions with mosaics, and even some people preserved in ash. It’s a must see if you go to Napoli, and something to put on your bucket list!

Pompeii is one of the world’s most significant archaeological sites, offering a captivating glimpse into a once-thriving ancient city. Visiting the ruins not only allows you to marvel at intricate mosaics and architectural brilliance but also to understand the lives of those who lived there, frozen in time by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. As you walk through the streets, you'll encounter vibrant wall paintings and well-preserved structures that tell the story of daily Roman life. The Via dell'Abbondanza, the main street, leads you past the Forum, houses, and shops, allowing visitors to visualize the hustle and bustle of the past. A friendly guide can enhance your experience with intriguing tales about the residents and significant events leading up to the eruption. For photography enthusiasts, Pompeii’s scenic ruins present countless picturesque opportunities against the backdrop of Vesuvius. It's vital to wear comfortable shoes and plan your visit early in the day to avoid the crowds and heat. Don’t forget to sample local cuisine in nearby Napoli to complete your Italian experience! Pompeii isn’t just a destination; it’s a lesson in resilience and a window into the past. Make it a priority to visit this UNESCO World Heritage site at least once in your lifetime!
