A regular day as a CF-SLP
It’s my second week as a CF-SLP in a preschool/kindergarten setting. The level of exhaustion is unbelievable. With licensing documents, referrals, scheduling, IEPs, annuals… phew. It’s a learning process for sure! BUT… I’m loving every minute of it! #cfslp #slp #speechlanguagepathologist #speechtherapy #speechpathology
As a CF-SLP in the initial stages of my career, every day presents a mix of challenges and joys that come with working in a preschool environment. From early morning planning sessions with coffee in hand to engaging activities during outdoor sessions with toddlers, each moment is unique. Addressing the needs of energetic 3-year-olds requires creativity and adaptability, especially during group sessions targeting specific communication goals like consonant-vowel combinations (CVCs). It's a demanding role filled with responsibilities that include managing licensing documents, scheduling therapy sessions, and participating in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings. Balancing these tasks can be overwhelming, but the rewards make it all worthwhile. Witnessing a child's progress in their speech and language development provides immeasurable satisfaction, reinforcing the importance of this vital work. For those aspiring to enter the field, these experiences shape not only professional skills but also foster deeper connections with each child. Remember, every day is a new opportunity to make a meaningful impact! Reach out to fellow speech-language pathologists for support and share your experiences along the way. It’s essential for CF-SLPs to stay connected with peers through forums and communities, utilizing hashtags such as #cfslp and #speechpathology to exchange insights and advice. Collaboration and shared experiences enhance learning and personal growth in this rewarding career path.
