Remember this time last year when I was in OCS at the Coast Guard Academy and everything I’m doing now was just a dream? So crazy. #onthisday #uscg #coastie #coastguard #alaska
Looking back at my time at the Coast Guard Academy and moving through Officer Candidate School (OCS), I can't help but feel grateful for the challenges and growth I've experienced. The physical and mental demands were intense — from early morning physical training to learning critical leadership skills — but they prepared me well for active duty. Being stationed in Juneau, Alaska, is like stepping into a whole new world. The rugged landscapes and unpredictable weather make every day an adventure, and it's incredible to be part of Coast Guard operations in such a remote and beautiful place. The camaraderie among fellow Coasties helps keep spirits high despite the tough environment, and the mission to protect our waters and assist those in need adds real purpose to the job. If you’re considering a career with the Coast Guard or just curious about life after the Academy, I would say embrace every challenge and keep an open mind. The experiences you gain, especially in places like Alaska, are unforgettable and genuinely life-changing. I’m excited to continue this journey, share more about what it’s like to serve in the Coast Guard, and bring my dog Crash along for the ride. Stay tuned for more updates from the Last Frontier!
