Toddlers testing boundaries is actually part of their development—they're learning about control and communication. One tactic I've found helpful is offering limited choices, like "Do you want to wear the red shirt or the blue one?" This satisfies their need for negotiation without overwhelming the situation. Humor also helps; sometimes laughing at their serious attempts to bargain lightens the mood and eases tension. Understanding this phase makes parenting more manageable and even enjoyable. When my toddler tries to negotiate everything, I remind myself it’s a way they explore independence.
