When I was working full-time, the house often felt more orderly because the kids were in daycare or school during the day, which meant fewer opportunities for messes. However, the downside was that I always felt rushed, trying to squeeze in cleaning and quality time with the kids between work commitments. Now, as a stay-at-home mom, the chaos never seems to end. Toys are scattered almost nonstop, meals often leave a mess, and laundry piles up. But I've learned to shift my mindset about cleanliness and order—accepting that a perfectly clean house isn’t always realistic or even necessary for my family's happiness. One thing that really helped me cope is focusing on what truly matters: creating a loving and nurturing environment for my kids. Yes, the mess can be stressful, but it's also a sign of an active, joyful home where my children feel free to explore and be themselves. I also discovered practical habits that make cleaning a bit less daunting—like doing a little every day rather than waiting for a big cleaning session, involving my kids in tidying up to teach responsibility, and not being afraid to let go of perfection. It’s okay if the dishes aren’t washed immediately or if the toys stay on the floor for a bit. Being a mom means juggling many roles and expectations, and housework is just one part of that. We must remind ourselves that being present and loving our children is far more important than an immaculate home. Whether you're a Type A parent who loves a spotless space or embrace the beautiful chaos, the key is finding balance and being kind to yourself. After all, the goal is raising kind, happy, well-adjusted children—and a bit of house mess is a small price to pay for those precious memories.
