Starting 2026 with Jesus✨
We all are looking forward to the new year, but are we preparing with God? here are ways we all can start with Jesus in these five concise steps for the new year of 2026...
1. Word and Prayer. God's word says His word is inspired, alive and active just as it is powerful and true for every season, so let His Word be your guide throughout. even more so, as you stay in the word stay in prayer, both God hand in hand. always bring all of your requests to God in prayer (Psalm 119:105; John 15:5; Philippians 4:6-7, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16).
2. Confession. The word of God says those who confess their sins will have mercy even more so God is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins just as He is faithful and just to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. so whatever sins you may have committed don't bring them unconfessed with you into the new year or even now don't hide them, confess and be forgiven (1 John 1:9)
3. Renew the mind. The word of God doesn't only just guide and help with situations but it also leads your mind to know and walk in the will of the Lord instead of sin ( Romans 12:1-2).
4. Discipline. Joshua 1:8 says to meditate on God's word day and night where you can apply it to all areas where you'll be prosperous and have good success. so when you can read a portion of the 4 Gospels, or a Proverbs or a Psalm, Then memorize it so it can help you stay disciplined in the truth and thus lead you into God's plan for your life Psalm 119:11).
5. Community. Make sure to stay active in your church community, even with your neighbors in the faith. encourage, have Bible studies, build each other up and even show the love of God with one another where in doing all of this each of you can grow more in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:24-25; James 1:27, 2 Peter 3:18).
6. Focus on God. above all, seek first God and His kingdom and His righteousness in all that you do (Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:2) 🙏🏽🕊️
Starting the new year with a strong spiritual foundation is a meaningful way to invite God’s presence and guidance into your daily life. Incorporating the six steps shared — Word and Prayer, Confession, Renewing the Mind, Discipline, Community, and Focus on God — can transform how you approach challenges and opportunities in 2026. The biblical verses referenced emphasize the power of God’s word and the importance of aligning your actions with His will. For example, Psalm 119:105 highlights the word of God as a lamp to your feet, offering direction in times of uncertainty. Engaging in consistent prayer keeps your relationship with God vibrant, allowing you to bring your fears and hopes directly to Him. Confession is key to experiencing God’s mercy and forgiveness, freeing you from the burden of guilt as you head into a fresh year. The promise from 1 John 1:9 reassures believers that confession leads to cleansing and restoration. Renewing your mind through God’s word shifts your perspective away from worldly distractions toward God’s purpose, as Romans 12:1-2 teaches. This mental transformation supports making choices that reflect God’s righteousness. Discipline, as encouraged in Joshua 1:8, involves meditating on Scripture regularly — whether reading Psalms, Proverbs, or the Gospels — and memorizing verses to internalize God’s truth. This practice not only builds resilience but also equips you to handle life’s ups and downs with spiritual wisdom. Community plays a vital role in spiritual growth. Being active in church fellowship and faith-based friendships offers support, encouragement, and accountability. Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds believers to spur one another on toward love and good deeds, fostering a nurturing environment where faith flourishes. Lastly, focusing first on God’s kingdom (Matthew 6:33) helps prioritize spiritual pursuits over worldly concerns. This focus sustains peace and joy throughout the year. The OCR text reflects related biblical encouragements about God's strength and faithfulness, such as Psalm 93:1 and Jeremiah, affirming that God’s power supports those who commit to Him. As you start 2026, let these scriptures remind you that God is ever-present, girding you with strength as you walk in faith. By embracing these spiritual disciplines and community connections, you position yourself for a prosperous and meaningful new year anchored firmly in Jesus' love and guidance.
