“Just cover up.”

Here’s the truth:

1️⃣ People dismiss what they don’t understand

Just because you don’t relate to my experience doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

I’ve been kicked out of gyms, had ads blocked, and had content flagged because other people project their shame onto my body.

That’s not “attention-seeking.”

That’s living with the fallout of other people’s discomfort.

2️⃣ “Just cover up” isn’t advice — it’s an attempt to control

Women wear leggings every day without being told to hide.

Men only cover up because they’ve been conditioned to feel ashamed.

I’m not doing that.

I wear what’s comfortable and functional — not what keeps someone else from feeling secure.

3️⃣ Confidence isn’t the absence of criticism — it’s the refusal to bend to it

I’m not shrinking, contorting, or apologizing to make strangers comfortable.

If my comfort threatens someone’s comfort, that’s not my burden to carry.

And if you’ve ever been told to hide, tone it down, or “just cover up,” let this be your permission slip:

Live unapologetically.

Wear what feels right.

Stop negotiating your confidence with people who never earned a say.
