Books I Wanted (but didn't buy)

I stopped by Labyrinth Books in Princeton, NJ on my day off. They have such a great collection of new supplies and books, along with AMAZING secondhand buys! Though their pricing was reasonable, I'm trying to stay conscious of unnecessary spending and I currently have some unread books at home to read for now. But these are on my list of what to buy in the future! Especially David Attenborough- that man is my King.

... Read moreIt's totally relatable, right? That feeling of walking into a bookstore, seeing all those incredible new (and secondhand!) titles, and wanting to buy them all, even when you know your 'to-be-read' pile at home is already overflowing! I've been there countless times. My own pile seems to grow faster than I can read, and while resisting temptation like at Labyrinth Books is tough, it's also a great reminder to appreciate the books I already own. But how do you actually tackle that mountain of unread books? I've found a few tricks that really help. First, try creating a 'reading queue.' Instead of just grabbing whatever, pick your next 3-5 books and stick to them. This creates a sense of purpose. Another thing that works for me is joining a reading challenge – whether it's a Goodreads challenge, a book club, or just setting a personal goal. It makes reading feel less like a chore and more like an exciting quest! And honestly, sometimes just dedicating 15-20 minutes a day, even if it's just before bed, can make a huge difference. Those pages really add up! Speaking of exciting quests, the books I spotted that day, especially the nature and animal-focused ones, always spark my interest. There's something so captivating about diving into a book like 'The Trials of Life' or 'THE LIFE OF MAMMALS' by David Attenborough. These aren't just factual accounts; they transport you to different ecosystems, introduce you to fascinating creatures like the 'LIVES OF SHARKS', or even shed light on misunderstood species like in 'Pit Bull THE BATTLE over AN AMERICAN ICON'. I also found myself drawn to 'TEN BIRDS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD' and 'BEETLES OF THE WORLD' – they're perfect for expanding your knowledge in such a vivid, engaging way. Even practical guides like 'THE COMPLETE DOG BREED BOOK' can be a delightful read if you're passionate about pets! Reading these types of books isn't just about gaining information; it's about connecting with the natural world and understanding the intricate web of life around us. They often inspire a deeper appreciation for conservation and biodiversity. And for anyone else trying to be smart with their spending, reading doesn't have to break the bank. Beyond resisting impulse buys, remember your local library is a goldmine! They often have new releases, e-books, and audiobooks. Secondhand bookstores, like the ones with those 'half price books' deals, are fantastic for finding gems at a fraction of the cost. I also love book swap groups or borrowing from friends. It’s all about finding access to amazing stories without stretching your budget. Happy reading, everyone!
