Ecclesiastes 1-7 Bible Study 🌸

I went all in. Tonight’s Bible study was a good one for me. I always recommend to read on your time & ask God for understanding and knowledge.

Here’s what I learned:

• Written by Solomon, son of David

• Futile = useless, having no result/effect.

• vanity of vanities. Everything is vanity.

• the more wisdom/knowledge you acquire the more sadness increases in you

• you can enjoy life and the pleasures it comes with. But it is futile(useless)

• everything we desire on earth is a waste. Most of it is vanity/materialistic.

• Solomon worked a lot, and because of that he felt he needed to reward himself

• death comes the same to a rich man or a poor man

• Solomon felt his work useless because what if someone came & just ruined his work/legacy.

• work but also enjoy your life in a godly way, it is Gods gift to enjoy

• Time is sacred it is Gods gift to us.

• people want to have more than you/others. This is where jealousy comes from.

• having someone by your side is better than being by yourself. Because they can lift you up when you fall

• Sometimes words have no meaning. Therefore, fear God

• we came from nothing, we leave with nothing

• it is good to enjoy life as long as you don’t sin.

• a person may have lots of money and still want more. They are never satisfied.

• God knows and directs everything, He is in complete control of my life

• reputation is important

• better to be criticized by a wise person than be praised by a fool. Choose your friends wisely. Fine people who will correct you

• guard your heart from being angry. Only fools have anger in their hearts

• don’t contemplate about the past. You will live longer with wisdom.

• God is shaping us in the good times & bad times.

• we are imperfect. We are sinners.

• there are many good people but yet still they search for evil.

This has been in my drafts and I am now able to post it 🥰

( please ignore the it smells good & very moisturizing! lol that was a typo)

... Read moreAfter spending time in Ecclesiastes chapters 1-7, I'm genuinely blown away by how relevant Solomon's ancient wisdom still is today. When he talks about "vanity of vanities," he's really driving home that everything "under the sun" – our pursuits, our achievements, even our understanding – can feel utterly "FUTILE = useless" if we don't connect it to something eternal. It’s not about saying life is pointless, but rather that chasing worldly possessions, endless knowledge, or fleeting pleasures without God is ultimately unsatisfying. This concept of profound futility really makes you re-evaluate what you're investing your energy into. One point that really stuck with me is how Solomon observes that the more wisdom and knowledge you acquire, the more sadness can increase. This isn't a call to ignorance, but a profound observation that seeing the world's brokenness, the limitations of human effort, and the vastness of what we don't know can be disheartening. It’s a reminder that true peace isn’t found in knowing everything, but in trusting the One who does know everything and holds all things together. This paradox truly highlights the human condition. But amidst all this talk of futility, there's a beautiful message about enjoying life as God's gift. Solomon isn't encouraging asceticism; he's advocating for embracing your work, savoring your food, and cherishing your relationships in a godly way. This emphasis on "TIME WELL SPENT" truly resonates. Our time is sacred, a precious gift, and we're encouraged to embrace it, knowing it comes from God. This includes valuing "companionship," as having someone by your side to lift you up when you fall is indeed better than going through life alone – a powerful reminder in our often isolated world. The chapters also offer incredible practical wisdom for everyday living. I found the advice on "guarding one's heart" particularly powerful. It’s so easy to let anger and bitterness take root, but Solomon reminds us that choosing wisdom means controlling our emotions and seeking correction from wise friends, not just praise from fools. This builds a strong "reputation" based on integrity and genuine character rather than fleeting popularity. It’s about being teachable, humble, and surrounding yourself with people who will lovingly challenge you. Ultimately, Ecclesiastes 1-7 continually points us back to God's sovereignty. Even when life seems confusing, unfair, or our efforts feel small, recognizing that "God is shaping us" in both good and bad times brings immense comfort. We may be imperfect and prone to sin, but God remains in complete control, directing our lives with purpose. This perspective transforms the seemingly futile into opportunities for growth and deeper faith, reminding us that true satisfaction comes from Him alone, beyond anything "under the sun." I hope these notes encourage you to dig into these profound chapters yourself!
