Budget Friendly Valentine Activity (Home Edition)

I love a good theme and doing activities that correspond with any holiday that’s coming up and Valentines Day is no different! 🥰

Today, I made Valentines cupcakes and hot cocoa and my husband and I watched A Walk to Remember. This budget friendly activity was perfect for our day date on a lazy snow day where we were both home from work.

I’ll break down the cost!

Valentine cups $1.25 (dollar tree)

Valentine plates $1.67 (stop and shop)

Cupcake cups $3 (dollar tree)

Funfetti mix $2.19 (stop and shop)

Valentine funfetti frosting $1.99 (stop and shop)

=$10.10 TOTAL!

We did have the ingredients for the cupcakes (eggs and oil) and hot cocoa already at home so that price is not factored into this budget, and A Walk to Remember was free on Prime!

The cupcakes took about an hour between mixing, baking, cooling, icing, and adding sprinkles! The movie was about 2 hours so this took up a good portion of our day, keeping us busy doing something fun and festive for TEN DOLLARS!

What fun Valentine activities are you doing?! Let me know in the comments! 🫶🏻

... Read moreWho else feels the pressure around Valentine's Day to spend a fortune on fancy dinners or elaborate gifts? I used to, but after my recent $10 home-based Valentine's success, I'm a firm believer that the best celebrations are often the simplest and most personal. We had such a blast making our own funfetti cupcakes from a Pillsbury Funfetti Premium Cake Mix, topping them with that delicious pink vanilla frosting, and then cozying up for a movie. It just goes to show you don't need to break the bank to create lasting memories! If you're looking for more cheap Valentine's Day activities or even things to do with no money at all, I've got a few more ideas that I absolutely love and plan to try out. The key is to focus on quality time and creativity. First up, why not transform your living room into a cozy haven for an indoor picnic or fort night? Grab some blankets, pillows, and string up a few fairy lights if you have them. Pack a basket with snacks you already have – maybe some cheese and crackers, fruit, or even leftover dessert. It’s incredibly romantic, feels like an adventure, and costs next to nothing. You could even write each other love letters or share your favorite memories together inside your fort. Another fantastic option for a fun, cheap Valentine's is a DIY spa evening. Gather any face masks, lotions, or bath bombs you might have tucked away. Light some candles (again, if you have them) and play some relaxing music. You can even whip up a homemade face mask using ingredients like honey and oats from your pantry. Taking the time to pamper each other or simply relax together is incredibly bonding and truly free, save for the ingredients you already own. For those who love a bit of friendly competition, a game night is always a winner. Dust off those board games, card games, or even try some online trivia if you're feeling digital. My partner and I always have a blast with simple card games, and it's amazing how much laughter they can bring. Add some homemade popcorn, and you've got a perfect evening. If you're feeling a bit more ambitious in the kitchen, consider a 'cook-together' challenge. Instead of just baking cupcakes (though those funfetti ones are truly delightful!), try making a meal from scratch with ingredients you already have. Pasta, pizza, or even a simple stir-fry can be incredibly fun to prepare as a team. It's a great way to bond, and the satisfaction of eating something you created together is priceless. And finally, don't underestimate the power of a memory lane walk or photo album night. Pull out old photo albums, look through pictures on your phone, or simply reminisce about your favorite moments as a couple. Sometimes, the most meaningful activities are those that reconnect you with your shared history and the love that brought you together. The beauty of these cheap Valentine's activities is that they're all about connection, not consumption. Whether you're making cupcakes with pink vanilla frosting, building a blanket fort, or just sharing stories, the effort and thought you put into it will always shine through more than any expensive gift. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
