Does this mean he doesn’t like me?

It feels like we should be going for the next step. But one thing’s been annoying me more lately that he’s just not a curious person. Yesterday, I found an old wooden block at my parents’ place, which is reminded me of when I was 8 building a treehouse with my neighbor. We slipped and almost fell. I told him the story, and his response: “Dang, you were a tiny daredevil back then?” That’s it. Just a throwaway line instead of “How’d you not get hurt?” or “Do you still talk to that neighbor?”

And If I share a funny work story, a new baking trick I learned, even a weird thing I saw at the grocery store, he’ll say “Nice,” “Cool,” or “Good for you”, never a single follow-up question. I mentioned it once, said I feel like my little moments don’t stick with him cause he doesn’t ask more. He said “I’m just not the question guy, doesn’t mean I don’t care.”

But I’m the type who lives for small and curious chats. I love when someone leans in. It doesn’t need to be deep but I wanna feel like my thoughts matter to him. So… Am I expecting way too much?
