🌊⛩️ Do you know "Namiori Shrine" which stands quietly in Tsuyazaki, Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture? 🌿
It all started a long time ago, when Empress Jingu returned from the Silla expedition, three gods appeared on Tsuzumijima, off the coast of Tsuyazaki.
Later, when the local fishermen were caught in a storm, it was the three gods who answered their prayers.
On the raging sea, the gods standing on the ears of the waves. It is said that the gods calmed the raging waves and led the fishermen who drifted ashore to Gushima.
The fishermen used the three stones left on the boat as the object of worship and eventually built a shrine here, which is the origin of the name "Namiori Okami 🌊🙏

In particular, Princess Seoritsu is a mysterious existence that appears only in "Oharaishi." It is said that the name has been hidden, and at Namiori Shrine it is also worshiped as "Kibune God" and "Kibune Myojin."
📖 By the way, the word "Namiori" seems to have the meaning of "breaking the waves = surpassing," and it makes me feel the strength and compassion of "surpassing the rough waves."
🐇 And the statue of Shinto in the precincts is a symbol unique to this shrine. Its appearance lightly crossing the rough sea is like a messenger of the gods. The prayer of this area that has lived with the sea dwells.

はじめて波折神社に行ったとき、想像以上に「海のそばの守り神」らしい雰囲気を感じました。津屋崎の町から少し入ると、緑に包まれた参道が続いていて、石造りの鳥居の扁額にしっかり「波折神社」の文字。鳥居をくぐった瞬間に空気が変わる感じがして、自然と背筋が伸びました。 私が特に印象に残った見どころは3つあります。まずは社殿。拝殿には太い注連縄と鈴緒がかかっていて、目の前で手を合わせると「航海安全」「厄落とし」「ここ一番を凌ぐ力」をお願いしたくなる場所でした。赤い提灯も写真映えするので、参拝の記録を残したい人にもおすすめです。 次に御神木。社殿のすぐ近くに大きな木がそびえていて、見上げると圧倒されます。パワースポットって派手なものを想像しがちですが、波折神社はこういう“静かに力がある”タイプ。お願いごとをする前に、いったん深呼吸して気持ちを整えるのにちょうどいい場所でした。 そして、境内の像や石造りの守護獣の存在感。苔むした石の質感がこの神社の歴史を物語っていて、海の神様を祀る土地の「長い時間」を感じます。あわせて神兎（しんと）像も要チェックで、波を越えるイメージが波折の由緒と重なって、個人的にすごく象徴的だと思いました。 参拝のときは、御祭神（瀬織津姫大神＝貴船神、住吉大神、志賀大神）を意識してお願いごとを分けるのも良かったです。私は「祓い・リセットしたいこと」は瀬織津姫、「移動や旅の安全」は住吉大神、「運の流れを整えたいこと」は志賀大神、というふうに心の中で整理して拝みました。 境内には天満宮や須賀神社の小さなお社も見かけたので、時間があればあわせて手を合わせると“神社巡り”の満足度が上がります。海辺の風を感じながら、波折神社で「荒波を凌ぐ」気持ちの切り替えをしてみてください。
