Matsuhashi Shrine stands in the center of Matsuhashi-cho, Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
It used to be called Matsubashi Kumano-gu Shrine or Matsubashi Gongen-sha Shrine, and it is a venerable shrine where the vestiges of Kumano faith remain strong ⛩️✨
When you step into the precincts, the first thing that greets you is a large camphor tree estimated to be 700 to 800 years old 🌳

Matsuhashi Shrine has two traditions.
✦ The First History
It is said that the temple was transferred by the Imperial command of FUJIWARA no Michitaka, Kanpaku (chief adviser to the Emperor) in 1049.
It is a venerable history drifting the scent of the Heian period.
✦ The Second History
It is based on the tradition of the Shake and Shimoda families.
It is said that his ancestor, Iyo no kami Korekatsu, was told in a dream that "Kumano Gongen should be enshrined in this land," but the residents did not listen... and the land was enveloped in everlasting darkness.
It is said that people who were surprised at the Kumano Gongen deity created the Kumano Gongen deity.
It has a mysterious history, like a myth 🌙✨
🔥 and Recovery
In the Muromachi period, it flourished under the protection of the Kikuchi and Nawa clans who ruled Uto-jo Castle.
However, in 1599 (Keicho 4), it was burned down by Christian daimyo Yukinaga KONISHI.
The god body was evacuated to the mountain in a hurry and continued to be secretly enshrined.
Later, it was restored again in the era of Kiyomasa KATO,
With the prayers of the people, it is breathing firmly to this day ⛩️🔥
