redesigns, shelly fanart, and ocs!! :3
Creating fanart and original characters (OCs) within a beloved universe like Dandy's World is one of my favorite ways to express creativity. It’s not just about drawing; it's about exploring 'what if' scenarios and adding personal touches to characters we already adore, like Shelly. When I started these redesigns, my main goal was to capture Shelly's essence while giving her a fresh, unique twist that fans might not expect. My process usually begins with brainstorming different themes or moods. For example, some of my Shelly redesigns might focus on more 'cute' aesthetics, while others lean towards a slightly 'angst' or 'thicc' vibe, experimenting with various art styles. I love playing with outfits and accessories – imagining Shelly with a new hairstyle, a different color palette, or even a completely new costume. It's fascinating to see how small changes can dramatically alter a character's overall feel. I often think about what kind of adventures she might embark on in these new looks, or what new personality traits a particular design might hint at. Beyond redesigns, crafting OCs for Dandy's World is incredibly rewarding. It allows me to expand the universe and introduce characters that interact with Shelly and the gang. For instance, I've designed characters ranging from a whimsical one with a 'half-moon face' and a 'purple sleeping cap' to a mischievous 'green character with a wide, toothy smile' and 'colorful petal-like hair.' I even got to play around with more mechanical designs, like a 'green robot character with a TV screen head' or a 'light blue robot with a screen face and mechanical wings.' Each OC, whether it's an 'animal-like character with goggles' or a 'red, strawberry-like character with green leafy hair,' gets its own little story and place in this imaginative world. The inspiration for these OCs often comes from everyday observations or even just a random doodle. I think about what kind of role they would play – are they a loyal friend, a quirky sidekick, or perhaps a friendly rival? The 'split black and purple face' character, for instance, came from an idea of duality, while the 'green alien-like character with headphones' was all about embracing a vibrant, interstellar vibe. Even a 'light blue clown-like character' can bring a unique energy to the group. It's all about pushing the boundaries of what's possible within the Dandy's World setting, creating diverse characters that are visually interesting and conceptually engaging. I hope these creations inspire other fans to pick up their pens and imagine their own takes on Shelly and Dandy's World!
